MoreThis is a reply to # 1,437,291I tested positive with a home pregnancy test yesterday, and am seeing my doctor this afternoon. I've had Mirena since February 2008, six weeks after the birth of my daughter.
I understand there is a high risk for ectopic pregnancy, and for complications if the Mirena remains in the uterus with the developing baby.
I'm hoping that the original poster may respond with a happy ending to her story, or anyone else that has experienced a pregnancy with the Mirena.

After my last posting, my doctor confirmed that I was 7 weeks pregnant, with the Mirena still in place.
At 8 weeks, I had another ultrasound to determine if the doctor could remove the Mirena without causing a miscarriage, but at that time there was no fetal heartbeat. I had miscarried somewhere between the 7th and 8th week.
I had the Mirena removed- my doctor does not recommend that I use it again, since it already failed once. My husband is scheduled for a vasectomy.

This is a reply to # 1,511,866I'm in a confused state right now. I had a scare back in August. I had a test show positive while my IUD was in place. Had blood work done, but it was only a couple points saying I was pregnant. It was too early for an U/S and they suspected it was a chemical. I had a second beta done and it was negative. My doctor told me the test every month to make sure it doesn't happen again since I haven't bleed since April 2009. Now its Oct. 2009 and yesterday I took a $1 test from Dollar General. It showed a faint positive! I couldn't wait and took one more thinking it was a fluke and that one also was a faint positive. I'm not sure if its the tests, but having two in a row doesn't seem normal.
I also chart my BBT to see when I might have ovulated since I don't get a MP. Yesterday there was a dip in temps, cramping like heck, hips hurting and lower back pain. Have any of you felt this even with not being pregnant? I have a collapsed and tilted uterus and not sure if the IUD fits right. Like I said, I haven't had an U/S since getting this IUD.
I'm a mother of 4 and know what a pregnancy feels like and my baby is just 8 months old. I'm not sure what to do or if anyone would respond to this, but I'm searching for help!

This is a reply to # 2,054,290I wish I had known all of the before I let the doctor talk me into getting the Mirena. I just found out I'm pregnant and the doctor ordered a lab and once she gets the results she'll set me up with a visit. I'm in shock. I am 42 and completely done having children and I feel guilty that I cried when I found out and that my first thought was to get rid of it. I definitely FELT pregnant. All of the normal symptoms. But because I have the mirena I tried to live in denial for about a month. I have no idea what I'm going to do, but first I have to find out WHERE it is. I'm glad all of you are on here. This is a reply to # 2,062,536I have had the Mirena IUD in for almost 5 years and had already decided I would get another when the time came. However, I "felt" pregnant for the last week or so... pregnancy test was positive. I, too, am in my 40's and was shocked and devastated to find I was with child. I chose the Mirena because we were done building our family (4 kiddos) and I have health issues that needed tending to. After the shock of finding out I was pregnant, my mothering instincts kicked in and I began a furious search for information and providers to help me make the decisions that would best benefit the health of my baby. The Mirena was removed post-haste but the waiting game began. I was told I had a 50% chance of miscarrying due to the IUD being removed, but it was safer than leaving it in at this time. I was told yesterday that my HCG levels are dropping. I cannot express the anguish I feel. It may not have been planned, but it was already loved. This is a reply to # 2,068,656This is unfortunate, and this is my opinion on the situation as we are all entitiled to one. The Mirena is intended for women who do not want to conceive and is worrisome that we still can, sure the Dr. Said there might be a slight possibility but I never imagined it could carry on to 11 wks. I`ve had mine since 2009 & I got the Mirena because I do not like babies, there just not for me. I aksed my Dr. If I could get my tubs tied but he said I am to young for that so for now this is my only option. Now for those who are complaining that your worried about a miscarriage are just plain annoying youre doctor tells you all the side effects and risks before insert. They say specifacally that a pregnancy may occure but greatly fail due to Mirena, so if you all wanted another baby or feel bad about being pregnant while on Mirena and the chance of survival is close to none, sorry to say this but this is what you signed up for. To say you wish Mirena was taken out of the mareket is way to extreme and some of us like this option. I hope I am never in this unfortunate situation because I would be so mad at the fact that I am pregnant... good thing I ran into this, making appt asap to get mine checked up.

I have 2 children 3 and 4 years old. I had Mirena since the birth of my second child, about 3 years ago. Three weeks ago I started spotting but I though that it was not a big deal since the spotting is usual with Mirena. Couple of weeks ago I started to feel weak and light headed but I still though this symptoms were due to bleeding. About 10 days ago bleeding got worse and I started to worry so I got home pregnancy tests both came out positive. The ultrasound showed healthy heartbeat of the baby but there is a blood clot right next to the placenta. The doctor said that the IUD is too close to the baby and said that the best bet is to leave the IUD. This week was better, spotting got brown and the doctor said that this was a good sign. Today I took my children to the park, when I came back bleeding came back. I can not describe how much worry the situation is causing me, I can not sleep and just pray and cry all the time. I constantly feeling myself and on the alert. My husband and I want this baby very much. I can not believe that we are that 1% out of 99 that have to experience this. Please post, reading and posting gives me hope.
