Sounds to like your maxillary's are packed. I drain a lot of pus from mine so maybe this info will help you.
I am 57 and have suffered with excessive mucous production and unilmited drainage all of my life. I use a grossan irrigator and a warm mist moisturizer. I have chronic sinusitis, allergic fungal sinusitis and from time to time a staph infection of the sinus. The problem with the drainage is it ends up in your lungs and eventually will retard oxygenation. Eventually you will end up with a pulmonologist who will give you a full function lung test which you will fail and he will diagnose you with COPD/Emphysema and sadly inform you there is nothing that can be done and the problem will worsen as you age.
I went through this and after a lifetime of bronchitis, sinusitis, never ending colds, bouts with pnuemonia, chronic fog of the thinking process, constant suctioning through snorting the sinuses to clear them, weight loss, mood swings etc I finally did the following.
1. Buy a warm mist moisturizer and keep it by the bed. During infection breath in the steam as often as possible. After a 15 minute session hang upside down over the back of a chair to see if your sinuses drain. If you can expectorate sputum in this manner have the mucous cultured. It will take at least 4 samples so you can have the following cultures performed.
a. fungus
b. bacteria
c. tuberculosis
d. micro bacteria
If you are like me the warm mist moisturizer will become a part of your life.
2. In the Grossan irrigator try to find
additives which will aid in killing bacteria and fungus. I use and rotate the following three items
a. Grapefruit Seed Extract (20 drops)
b. Apple Cider vinegar ( 1 tablespoon and work up to this gradually)
c. Food grade H2o2 (I use 10-20 drops)
Your ENT needs to be excellent. There is a strong possibility you will need surgery but remember the surgery is treating the symptom of a more intesnse problem. the surgery will not cure the root causitive problem. You might want to seek out an Infectious Disease Specialist because these are the guys that understand how the bacterias and especially the microbacterias work. The IDS will also know how to prescribe the anti-fungals and I gurantee you your ENT doesn't.( My ENT was familiar with mayo report but had no clue how to prescribe the anti-fungals---the ids had me take 6 sporanox a day for two weeks than 4 a day ---still taking 4/day. I have been on anti fungals for 6 months)
If you do not seek an IDS than demand a full panel anti-body test. You will need info on the following anti-body levels
a. I(g)A
b. I(g)E
c. I(g)G
d. I(g)M
You will also need to track levels of the liver enzymes and lymphoycytes and eosinophil levels. this is standard complete work up blood tests.
I cannot emphasize enough the importance of the sputum cultuures and the blood tests.
I have suffered through this all my life and no doctor ever did Jack Chitt on their own. Once I read the Mayo Clinic report on Chronic Sinusitis I started managing my own case.
In my particular case the root problem appears to be a weak immune sysytem due to a particular shortage of a certain antibody. I am going to need injections that many would consider allergy shots. I had been through allergy testing previously but it was the standard rip off bull *%#&¤?§* where they can bill the insurance the max by looking for the common allergies through sub cutaneous injection of common allergens.
In the event they prescribe
Antibiotics make sure they give you a respiratory directed antibiotic. Avelox is excellent. Try to avoid the sulfa
Antibiotics (bactrum).
Along with this try to eliminate all
Sugar from your diet. this is very important. Once you do this try to rid the diet of white flour. Avoid alcohol at all costs. Join a health club that has a sauna and try to hit the sauna at least 5 time s aweek.
Any way good luck to you! In closing I cannot emphasize enough how much good the warm mist moisturuzer does for clogged sinuses!
Finally-----YOU HAVE TO MANAGE YOUR OWN CASE!!!!!!!!!
