Let me just get this off my chest. Posted from an article, because I couldn't say it better myself. Why are we not marching in the streets??
When in the course of human events it becomes necessary for we the people to reject our representative leaders, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that we declare the causes that impel us to our discontent.
Since a long train of abuses by our public servants has evinced a design to reduce us under a growing despotism, it is our right, it is our duty, to throw off, peacefully and civilly, such representation, and to choose new guards for our future security. Such has been the patient sufferance of the people of the United States these last six years, and such is now the necessity that impels us to demand new leadership.
The history of the current executive, President George W. Bush, is a history of repeated injuries and abuses. To prove this, let clear facts be submitted to a candid world.
* He lost the Presidential election and became President, perverting two centuries of democracy.
* He scorns the legislative and judicial branches of government.
* He prosecutes journalists who uncover his illegalities, and pays those who spread his propaganda.
* He uses the glory of our armed forces as a campaign platform to abuse his political enemies.
* He loses our jobs to the world.
* He enriches further the richest few at the expense of our pursuit of happiness.
* He suppresses our wages, hungers for our pensions, exhorts us to debt.
* He empties our treasury, placing our very security and independence in the hands of foreign creditors.
* He starves our schools, our services, our states.
* He lost an entire American city while on vacation.
* He keeps company with slaves of avarice; one effected the largest business fraud in our history, and the other, his Vice President, funneled to his own company a multi-billion dollar contract financed with our taxes.
* He poisons our rivers, dirties our skies, razes our forests.
* He is willfully blind to the imminent crisis of global climate change.
* He worsens America's health care emergency, while enjoying premier health care at America's expense.
* He blurs church and state to paint his political enemies as godless sinners.
* He rejects
Science and shows a lack of curiosity that is alarming in a chief executive.
* He spies on our private conversations, restricts our hard won freedoms, divides us with fear.
* He seeks counsel from a man who exposed an undercover American operative while she was investigating critical national security threats.
* He dismissed warnings about a clear threat that would become the worst attack ever to be perpetrated on our shores.
* He failed to capture the perpetrator of that attack.
* He decided to invade Iraq, a country with no relationship to that attack, long before seeking the authority to do so.
* He lied to the American people and to the world about weapons that did not exist.
* He lost the war, enflamed the region, emboldened terrorists, weakened our army, enriched mercenaries.
* He sells our homeland security to foreign companies with ties to terrorism.
* He denies basic constitutional rights to U.S. citizens, rejecting national law.
* He denies basic human rights to non-citizens, defying international law.
* He has made torture an American value.
* He builds secret prisons throughout the globe and then obscenely denies their existence.
* He, most grievously of all, unites the world against us.
In every stage of these destructive actions we have humbly petitioned. Our repeated petitions have been answered only by repeated injury and a growing arrogance.
A President, whose character is thus marked, is unfit to be the chief executive of a free people.
Nor have we been wanting in attentions to our legislative bodies, the majority of whom remain cowed by him.
This catalogue of injuries is indeed grave. Yet how much has already occurred and is concealed from our sight? How much more will yet unfurl in the coming years?
We, therefore, the people of the United States of America, do, in the name of our free and democratic Republic, solemnly declare, that these United States should be free of the current executive administration and its President, George W. Bush, and that all of our efforts will be aimed at peacefully and democratically removing him from office through the sacrosanct right of our votes, our devotion to the rule of law, and our justified moral indignation.
For the support of this declaration we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.
