you NEED to get the leaky walls fixed, its absolutley imperative. what is more important, a closet or your family's health? i would get a professional mold removal person to look at this, its really very important. you may be able to use a product like "kilz" on your walls, but not sure if that will do it or not. the problem may be deeper than that can take care of.

a borax and water solution will help quite a bit with any mold, it kills mold on contact more effectively than bleach does. also ozone is used by the best mold removal companies to kill the mold spores in the air. you can get ozone machines on ebay. but if you dont get to the root of the problem, it will continue.

you HAVE to fix the leaky wall, its that simple. dont take no for an answer, get to it, its really worth it.

in the mean time you can get a dehumidifier and put it where the mold problem is the worst. spray the area down with a borax/water solution (heat the water then mix in the borax) and then turn on the dehumidifier. that will help. but its not the cure, you need to get to the root of the problem.

i would make Colloidal Silver and make a paste with it and borax. spread that on like plaster and leave it. that or dry out the concrete and seal it and then put the paste on. gotta get rid of it.

You immediately need an air cleaner and a vacuum which both have Hepa filters in them. The Honeywell 17000 has a Hepa filter and is light enough to move from room to room. Runs about $145 at Home Depot. These are your best tools to capture the mold spores out of your breathing environment.

I assure you most, if not all of your health problems are directly or indirectly connected to your mold exposure. Unless your husband enjoys big doctor bills, seeing his family harmed, and the value of his home going lower and lower untill you might as well burn it down, he needs to correct the problem. As soon as any real estate agent or insurance agent sees the mold, you will not be able to sell the house or get insurance on it, believe me. To protect his family's health and the equity value of his home he needs to fix this problem. This is as nice as I can say it.

Your 15 year old's sinus surgery is most likely directly related to the mold problem in your home. Ask that doctor who did that surgery how much he knows about the effects of toxic mold on the human body. If the Antibiotics your son was given were mold based then they were the opposite of what your son needs. Most Antibiotics are mold based. Penicillin is made from the pennicllium mold, etc. The last thing your son needed was a concentrated dose of a mold based Antibiotic to add even more mold to his body. I am a Council-certified Indoor Environmental Consultant. Nothing you do from a construction basis that doesn't address any moisture intrusion (be that liquid or gas) will be headache free of mold. You have to look at any potential moisture intrusions and ventilation issues. Improper ventilation, even with the walls and floors "sealed" can still allow moisture to become available to microbes causing an infection of the building (either/all the building components, contents and Indoor Air Quality). The moisture alone can be a problem. Studies have shown links between moist buildings and multiple inflammatory and psychomatic symptoms.
