Hi, fasting really is more complex than most would think. See people fast for so many different reasons spiritual, cure diesease, weightloss etc. I for example primarily chose a
Water Fast to jumpstart weightloss after all its said overweight people tend to have toxins and its hard for your body to loose weight when it has toxins so naturally a cleanse/fast was a good starting point. Further, I made a concsious effort to take time to reflect or just slow down and what better way to do this but in combination with fasting. Prior to the year or less I gained weight not watching my nutrition frankly I did not have any food issues; I ate extremely healthy.So I wldnt say my fast was inspired by food issues, or trying to avoid it rather mine was inspired by a quest to return to my healthy lifestyle that meant weightloss as continued obesity wld put me at risk of chronic illness(in fact I found myself more worried about my BMI stats I was more motivated to bring my points from 36 obse into the 24 normal range why it reduced my risk of chronic illness) and living in a fast paced world I needed to slow down so I just took half a year out to do nothing, slow down and take stock, take a step back and reflect; I found fasting really enhanced this process. As the New Year approaches I feel refreshed, revitalizes and rejuvinated.
I would beg to differ about smoothies to help deal with food issues a liquid diet/smoothies. As you say its a liquid diet in my opinion that not too different from MC/fasts. I could say for those who need a thorough cleanse really
Water Fasting is widely accepted as superior, most smoothies have a dairy component not good for cleansing, a whole fruit has its enzymes and fibre intact, however once you puree fruit the valuable fibre is reduced/lost, in fruit sucrose is present in the manner nature intended it to be digested in juices/smoothies a fruit is taken out the way nature intended it be consumed likewise sucrose so the body digests it diferently, unless your'e really careful what ingredients you include these drinks are notorious for high calories I really could go on. However, green juices and green smoothies are an exception they are recommended. See the food industry found a niche in the Smoothie business touting their high caloric beverages as healthy and with everyone trying to be healthy they're making a killing deceiving consumers. As I prepare to come off my fasts I'm fine tuning my nutrition and exercise savvy and spend a lot time researching. Recently, I found a website that lists calories in food and also includes a pie chart to show you what % piece of the pie fat(is in red ha ha),carbohydrates and protein costitutes gosh if only the FDA regulated that food be labelled that way I'm sure lots of companies would be out of business or at least pple would think twice abt certain foods.I mean its one thing being told dont drink vitamin water it has a lof of
Sugar then seeing it for yourself. I mean I for one was shocked at Indian Vegetarian Entree's at being mostly fatty after Indian food is touted as "healthy" yeah maybe healthier than Mc Donald but not in and of itself. Seriously we consumers have look out for ourselves I'll give another example in the news the other night the so called "HEALTHY SPECIAL K CEREAL". Yeah right, it was reported that the cereal and almost all grocery store brands contained unhealthy amounts of sodium that were especially harmful to low blood pressure patients or anyone trying to control blood pressure. Worse years agothe FDA noticed this and warned the cereal industry but told them to take the intiative to reduce the amounts on their own and as to be expected YEARS LATER THEY HAVE NOT. In UK, its regulated as such the Special K in England has significantly less sodium than the same Special K box in the US and what do they drill consumers to do "eat Special K for 6 weeks straight" knowing full well its not so healthy.As Amy's the so called healthy frozen dinners have some form of
Mono-Sodium-Glutamat (Natrium Glutamat) in some of their frozen entree's and they're supposedly organic, ORGANIC FOOD WITH
Mono-Sodium-Glutamat (Natrium Glutamat) whats next ha ha. As for the REAL DEAL with SOY FOODS gosh we'll be here forever for its more deception all in the name of profit.
