Jeez, I know I am a picky sleeper...ggg.
If I am sleeping with a snorer, I have to go to
sleep before them or will lay awake listening
to them. I did help a friend discover he had sleep
apnea though since he would stop breathing. He did
not want to believe me so I recorded him~!
I am terrible about being a "spinner". If I cannot
sleep, I will switch directions in bed. This can
be discomforting to a partner but if I find I am
not sleeping well, often just putting my head in
another direction is the perfect answer. Needless
to say, a king size bed is best for this. There is
no direction which does not work well for me, but
would be hard pressed to choose a favorite.
I love blankets and unless it is so hot and humid
nothing feels better, I will layer my bed with all
sorts of layers of quilts, blankets and sheets.
If I get hot, I will also flip the covers so that
the cold side is down next to my skin. I also
cannot stand to wear anything to bed.
I cannot stand to have electronics in my bedroom
although where I live now there is. All lights
and electronics have to be off. The worst thing
for me is the sound of a ticking clock. I have to
take out the battery or move the clock. I also have
the light on the air conditioner covered so I cannot
see it. I love central air since it really affords
a dark room. If it is cool enough, I like the
windows cracked too since I really like fresh
air and all my blankets will keep me warm while
I can enjoy fresh air.
I LOVE pillow talk and enjoy laying together
skin to skin and visiting, especially on a weekend
when you have the time. Ha~! and I have tons of
pillows...ggg. A knee pillow is wonderful...
I enjoy reading in bed. It feels like a luxury
and I love being read to in bed. It feels like
a vacation and seems very bonding to me.
Bumps in the night...if the dogs are not barking,
I feel perfectly safe. I live out near to nowhere
though so those who are evil tend to frequent
places where there is more lucrative foraging.
I get up once or less a night to pee which is
fine with me. I will glance at the clock and
enjoy knowing I have so many more hours to sleep.
I do get deep restful sleep but I think my nightly
bath ritual helps. I think a good nights rest can
take planning. If I am wound up, I know it is not
time to go to sleep. I need to unwind and putter
around.
I HATE sleeping with pets. It does not matter how
sweet they are, they wake me up. I particularly
do not like a dog or a cat plastering themselves
against my naked body. I find it easy to imagine
*things* crawling off them onto me~!
I like spooning but if a guy has me *pinned* down
I get frustrated and will make any excuse to
slip away. I had one partner who would smush
me to one side of the bed and so I would manage
to disentangle but would have to go to the
other side of the bed to get any room. He finally
accepted the general rule, meet in the middle
but do not fence me in~! ;p
Preferred time for intimacy...morning or night,
although preferably right after my bath since there
is probably only a 20-30 minute window before I
fall asleep because I am relaxed. Usually though,
there has been a build up of attention throughout
the day so lovemaking is something I am anticipating.
Still, if my partner is second in the bathroom and
they take an hour, chances are they are going to
find me rolled up like a kitten...sound asleep.
I also have more than one bed wherever I live
since I am usually concerned if I am not sleeping
well, I do not want to wake my partner. I have
been known to slip away and go sleep somewhere
else if necessary. Generally though, by the time
we both have wound down and gotten ready for bed,
we are ready to cuddle up and sleep through the night.
Most of all, looking at rest as the time to quiet
the mind and relax is helpful. If you are the type
who goes to bed and does a daily minute by minute
review, you can find yourself awake an hour later
still trying to shut off the mind.
