If mild pain and dicomfort is felt directly in the liver after taking a small amount of an ayurvedic remedy, could it be that the liver is just too congested to be able to take supplements, ie, the liver cells cannot be stimulated, as they are too congested with bile backing up, or stones in the liver?
I happen to think that I have either an inherantly weaker liver, you know like some people get trouble with their knees, or their backs, I have always had symptoms of liver congestion even since quite young.
I prefer to cleanse the slower route, as I find the popular olive oil and lemon juice type cleanse way to strong for my sensitive system.
The annoying thing is all blood has to be detoxed by the liver, so if you do anything that causes the bodies to detox, the liver if under par, struggles to cope, thus greatly slowing down ones progress.

MoreThis is a reply to # 1,019,954A very congested liver cannot process many of the herbs used in the so-called cleansers. A natural way to help cleanse the liver is to eat plenty of dark green leafy vegetables, carrots, and citrus fruits. Every morning drink the juice of a fresh squeezed lemon. Be sure a get some good quality oil like olive throughout the day. Avoid all deep fried foods and all processed foods containing trans fats. Work on getting your colon in shape.
If you do nothing else, take the lemon juice every morning and use good oil to stimulate the bile. I really think Liver Flushing done correctly and not taken to extremes would be best for you, but until you feel ready to do this and deal with some of the unpleasant aspects, then flushing is probably not the right choice. - Re: Does anyone know? MoreThis is a reply to # 1,019,954There are several slow liver cleanses. Read Andreas' forum. It is now disabled and you can't ask questions, but there is a lot of information there.
Also, Dr. Richard Schulze has a liver cleanse. Check his out on this forum.
But, for myself, I prefer the old, tried and true......Dr. Clark's. It works.
The suggestions Hopinso gave are great, too.

This is a reply to # 1,019,965I just jumped in since I needed gallbladder surgery. Did not even know that you should only do it as long you did not have constipation.
I am glad I was ignorant and did not worry. Now after reading for 4 years I would do it again and I know now a little bit more. The only thing I would probably do if I was constipated take 1 tsp Epsom Salts every morning so by the end of the week,when I did the flush, that everything would be working. Of course I know now too that all the ES with the flush will clean you out pretty well.
Hopinso's food suggestions sounds innocent to me, but I remember that people used to say use milkthistle for the liver, I never did since I was following Andreas and he was not much for supplements.

I learned the milkthistle lesson the hard way!!
If you'll remember, I ignored the parasite cleanse part for about 8 months. When I flushed next after doing MHs Dewormer, I had PAIN come SCREAMING back. Days and weeks went by and it wasn't getting any better. Docta Dennis had me do a 2 day specific juice fast, then start milkthistle and yellow dock. I wanted to pull my hair out ... heck, I'll be honest, I wanted to pull Docta Dennis' hair out!!!!! It was God-awful! But, I will say this, I immediately began feeling better after I finished the milkthistle. When I'd complain, he'd tell me do it or don't do it.
I went back to flushing and left the milkthistle alone for months.

AJD, a congested liver needs to be decongested inorder for it to function properly. It can be clogged with stones that are more than an inch in diameter. I've flushed 20 this size out of my body and 1000s that were between 1/4"-1". I'd be interested in listening to your suggestions in how a person is suppose to safely take care of a problem of the proportion that I had without flushing.
There are more flushes that a person can shake a stick at. Pick one and get on with it.
Epsom salts dialate the bile ducts so those large stones and thick sludge can pass.
Citrus causes strong muscle contraction in the liver and gallbladder.
Oils cause the liver and gallbladder to discharge bile for digestion of oils and fats.
Pampering your sensative system have you with a liver that can't detox your blood, so what are you going to do about it?

I am not pampering or pandering to a sensitive system, if you feel totally crap after doing a cleanse for several days, plus you vomit a lot during the cleanse you might have similar reservations.
giving advice is great but you may not be such a sensitive constition..and so I know what is feesible..
I have leanrned that there are herbs that can decongest the liver and thus make doing a cleanse more likely to work better.
The people that suggest the cleanse are the ones that probably have not had a bad time doing them!!

I would love to do the quicker way, but it does not suit at this time.

Alot of us started out with the HC protocol and have modified it to meet our indivisdual needs. An example, if I drink nothing after 2pm on the first day, I'm sick the 2nd day. I learned to drink all the water I care to drink, just none 20 mins before and after each of the flush drinks. I got where I wanted to gag at just the thought of an upcoming flush and the epsom salts water, I started putting it in apple juice and can get that down now with NO problems.
Hannah had problems with nausea and puts ginger and something else in her oil/grapefruit juice mix.
There absolutely are ways to get around the problems with flushing and we're here to help you!!!!!
