No to supplements....mostly
What sustainable living (and dying) means to me.

Basically this means that all the things I need to eat to live healthily I should be able to be produce on a plot of land while strengthening that land. I don't currently live on this land, but I intend to. Even if I did not intend to, the principle remains because I believe the earth sustains us if we apply our human instincts for beauty and compassion to our surroundings. I believe the interaction between the earth and human produces beauty when done "correctly" or in the best way. There is little "force" involved, and struggle is short-lived.
To me this means that intensive farming, harvesting, purifing, extracting and concentrating of substances are all "wrong" practices. These are practices of force and ugliness. So, supplements are as a whole, unsustainable because they involve intensive practices that cannot be done without force and ugly waste and by-products.
Underlying all of this is my belief that life is idyllic, unless we force it to be something else. We can live as competitors and as destroyers and spread ugliness while simplifying the landscape and our existence. No doubt we are capable of this. But this leads to doom and extinction of species and of culture(s). In short, by intensively mining substances and experiences we are producing ugliness and sterility and devouring our past and future.
In the end, if health and wellness cannot be had with gentle methods and sustainable ways, then we must accept our passing. This is a generous and beautiful act that shows compassion for the earth our fellows.
