Day 7 of the Juice Fast (I week down 3 to go!!!)
Day 7; Wife still pissed and I clean house at the Stardust (all with the help of some strong juice)
Date: 10/21/2006 1:48:41 PM ( 19 y ) ... viewed 3620 times I had another interesting day on day 7
It was friday so the usual merriment at the weekend possibilities left the the work day short and sweet (not to mention I have a short week next week). Temptaion again reared it's ugly head when the drug rep for Lipitor stopped by to drop off Q-Doba for the office. Again, I wasn't hungry but the smells....oh the smells. Thankfully the juice sufficed. (Carrot, Beet, Parsley, Ginger--in that order)
When the wife came to pick me up she was pissed. Apparently the little bastards in her 5th grade class had been testing her all day. I felt so sorry for her. She broke down into tears when we finally got out to the car. We had been planning on going straight from work to the gym but that plan (as you might imagine) was quickly squashed. When we got home she was famished and didn't want to make anying (I would lay odds that my wife is the pickiest eater in the continental United States). Since I was still planning on going to the gym (and wasn't hungry anyway) she went out for Arby's.
Thats one of the sad things when on a fast. See, my wife and I don't have (and don't plan to have) children. We do have an awesome dog but that is it. We really haven't made any friends in town (Vegas is so transient) so we pretty much just enjoy each others company. You don't realize how much quality time is really spent between families at mealtime. I knew it before but this fast has re-inforced it.
I went to the gym an enjoyed a nice long treadmill walk and a swim (and steamroom). I capped it all off with the rest of my morning juice. It's funny the strength of the ginger seemed to increase 10 fold from the time that I had my juice in the morning. Shortly after drinking the juice I felt a burst of energy (kind of like Popeye when he gets his spinich). I knew I would be awake for the next hours at least.
I decided that I needed to hit the Stardust poker room (for any of you who don't know...the Stardust, a Las Vegas casino that has been in operation since 1958 is closing on 10/31/06. Since one of my goals is to play in every poker room in Vegas I wanted to hit that one before they implode it--which should be sometime later this year). I bought in for 100 and by the time I left the casino this morning (5am--I can sit and play for 12-15 hours sometimes) I walked out with 444-- not too bad for an evening at the table. There were some extremely amusing moments at the table as 4 drunk tourists started a fight that would last for close to 3 hours at the table. I would tell the tale here but I think that is a story for another blog. ;)
Well, I've only had 5 hours of sleep but I feel perfectly refreshed. I've got plenty of things to do today. First, I think I'll make my juice!!!
Till Tommorrow,
Bearded One
PS I've dropped another 2 lbs to 218
