The weakest link in a chain is the strongest because it can break it.

Medical school is for the passionate, determined and sacrificial--besides intelligence and compassion. The students come in all shapes and sizes and all walks of life. But this is a description that befits the good students. And good does not mean the As, but tthe good that is associated with making every circumstance an oppoertunity and never losing focus on the bigger picture.
I was thrown off when I learnt from a friend today today an acquaintance of mine had quit medical school. He failed the last acadmic year, reason being he lost interest in medicine. The last time I spoke to him, there was at least a trace of hopefulness in his voice. However, I surmise ever since he began repeating the tracks of the previous year, he finally gave up.
A medical student is like a burning candle. Sacrifing makes up the wick, determination is the combusting fuel and passion is the flame. If one of the triad is weakened, I belief the flame will die out.
