Singing Affirmations
Singing affirmations with simple tunes makes them easier to accept and remember.

I am far from a good singer, but I have taken her advice. Right now I am working on three areas of emotional healing: self love and acceptance, confidence in physical healing, and releasing the past with all its old hurts and abuse. I have written very simple and easy to remember affirmations and put them to simple tunes. I spend several minutes in bed each morning singing these simple songs.
When I first started working with positive affirmations I had a lot of trouble because I did not believe what I was saying to myself. I would look in the mirror and burst into tears because I did not think I was all right, I did not accept myself, and I was in so much pain I could not believe my body was healing. By putting the positive thoughts into simple melodies of children's songs and singing them in the early moments of wakefulness, I can absorb the thoughts without my negative and frightened self arguing with the words.
I also hum the tunes while thinking the words. Owen suggested the humming technique. As I hum I try to visualize the vibrations going into my injured neck and lower back, down into the aching knees. I imagine the vibrations from the affirmations acting like the energy therapy I get from the chiropractor breaking up inflammation and old scar tissue, sweeping away damaged tissue and stimulating healthy new growth. Actually, that is exactly what is happening to my damaged emotions, and I believe that all healing must affect the body, mind and spirit.
Here are a few of the little songs I use to start the day:
I love myself, I accept myself.
I love myself, I accept myself.
I love myself, I accept myself.
All is well, all is well, all is well
the tune is an old children's song. I am not sure of the title, but the words begin "Here we go 'round the Mulberry bush"
Affirmation for healing in the body:
I am healing
And I'm free of pain
And I'm walking upright. (repeat three times)
Let It Be, Let It Be, Let It Be
I am healing
And I'm free of pain
And I'm walking upright. (repeat three times)
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you
To me this is both a prayer and an affirmation. I see my self healthy, pain free and walking normally even though that is not yet the case, that is why I add the line "let it be", and then repeat and say "thank you" because I am trusting that this healing will occur, or maybe I should say it has occurred, but is not yet manifest.
Little Song To Release The Past:
(sung to "This Old Man")
The past is over,
A closed door
It can't hurt me any more
I forgive and move on
With love and light-giving
NOW is where I'm only living.
I repeat each affirmation three times each to feed the body, mind and spirit.
Now I don't see any Grammy awards coming my way, but singing affirmations do help improve my outlook on the current situation. When everything seems bleak a little song can't hurt, and usually brightens the day.
