(pms) Arizona Green Tea - did it work?

Is this tea my new 'cure' for cramping?

Hmm, so I sipped on the Arizona Green Tea (with ginseng and honey) during the day yesterday, finishing it off at a late lunch. I'm not 100% sure, but it may have helped to ease my cramping.

As a recap.. someone on the forums mentioned that the tea really helped them with cramping -- it "did wonders". I am currently in PMS and experiencing "pre-cramps" which I usually get/suffer for up to 3 days before Aunt Flo comes. These cramps aren't typically enough to break open the meds *yet*, but are definitely enough to make me feel that pain thing constantly.

For a more complete introduction into my PMS world, see the "PMS is here and I'm fighting" post.

Of note, I am fully aware that every -body- is quite different. I don't put all my eggs into someone else's cure basket. I am an active participant in my health, for better or for worse, and monitor my personal changes. I also understand that PMS and cramping are two seperate entities. However, my pre-cramps are a part of my PMS, so I lump them together.

The Tea

About a half hour into the tea, my cramping subsided. It didn't return until late evening, perhaps around 8 or 9ish. So did it work? Maybe. Or maybe my body just stopped cramping because that's simply what it does. I cannot say, but I certainly will be drinking more tea when Aunt Flo comes and brings Major Pain with her.

Or the Food?

I continued to eat healthier yesterday. I ate lots of good fresh fruit including pears which I haven't bitten into since I was a young girl (I hated them then). I wish I could enjoy melons like honeydew, but I am allergic(?) to them. They make me gag and nauseated with one bite. This has been the case since my last pregnancy. I digress..

For lunch I ate two more turkey wraps (wrapped in a romaine lettuce leaf). This time I held the cheese and opted for my favorite basil pesto. It was so good that one wasn't enough.

For dinner I cooked some talapia on the stove in EVOO, topped with fresh green onions, garlic and kosher salt (just a smidgen). I steamed some broccoli florets for my side.

Later I ate another plum (mostly the skin) and had one chocolate turtle. I also had lots of water during the day (this is normal) and that great tasting soy milk.

So was it the tea, the change in diet, or simply Mother Nature waving her finger at Major Pain? Perhaps a combination of 2 or 3? Either way, I'm pleased.

Hissy Fit

I must say... at one point in the afternoon I felt a full-blown hissy fit coming on. I actually looked around my desk for something to throw (I've learned not to hit my computer anymore.. costs too much *s*). I resisted the urge.

My PC was acting up and right at a critical work time. Seemingly a minor issue (just reboot the damn thing), but major during PMS. I felt the intensity rising up inside of me and was very close to topping off. Instead, I got up and chopped a pear and ate it (hard chops with a professional butcher knife *s*). I'm just pleased that I could recognize the feelings boiling up before they boiled over.

Side note! I must admit to myself that this hissy feeling may be due, at least in part, to a decrease in my SSRI medicine. I've otherwise been doing great during my early weaning phase (none of those awful withdrawal side effects), but the brain is a complex being. Weaning during PMS is a tricking beast.
