PMS is here and I'm fighting

Ways I'm fighting my PMS

I've been in PMS for at least a week, maybe more. I have plenty of OTC pills at the ready for the pain, but I'm trying some other remedies before I break them open. I expect Aunt Flo to show up within the next 1-4 days.

Starting yesterday, I have changed my diet. I don't feel I can change my complete diet for a lifetime, but I can certainly do it for a while.

I bought 3 kinds of pears, kiwi, plums, grapes, oranges & tangerines and apples. I also picked up some sunflower seeds, broccoli, avocados, Arizone green tea with ginseng and honey, vanilla soy milk, deli turkey and some chocolate. It's chocolate craving time.

Why all this stuff?

I am reducing my refined sugar, carbs, fats, dairy and meat intake before my period to see if it will help a bit. From what I've read:

broccoli, soy milk = calcium = "reduce abdominal cramping"

avocado, chocolate, sunflower seeds = magnesium = "chronic intracellular magnesium depletion can cause symptoms of PMS"

plus: vitamin B6 = "reduce vulnerability to mood changes during the menstrual cycle"

and: vitamin E = "reduce PMS related breast tenderness, nervousness, depression, headache, fatigue, and insomnia"

and: zinc = "prevent PMS symptoms"

Now, I may never slice open those avocados, but I will certainly eat the rest. I don't expect any miracles, but I'm willing to try, and these foods will "do no harm".

Crampy today

I've been cramping for two days straight. It's what I call "pre-cramps"... not strong enough yet to take meds, but definitely felt and reminded of on a constant basis. I've started drinking the Arizona green tea -- someone else posted at curezone that it helped them a bit. I wanted to try energized water, as this was recommended too, but I've not gotten my supplies together for this, and need to research it more before I start anyway. Besides, the green tea comes in a can ready to drink so it's good for me, right? *just kiddin.. lol.

Diet

Yesterday I began eating the good foods. I've eaten a good 3 plums, a turkey roll (turkey slices laid on romaine lettuce with a little mustard and horseradish sauce.. I added a little cheese but should've gone without it). I've also been snacking on lots of sunflower seeds.. they are so good.

I was pleasantly surprised by the soy milk. Wow it's good!! I drank it several times straight from the container.. straight! I absolutely never do this with regular cow's milk. Once I mixed it with half a pouch of a generic Carnation Instant Breakfast and it was a nice treat. Alone it provides lots of calcium and others, plus a nice supply of protein.

Today I will likely eat fruit and turkey for lunch and talapia fish for dinner, broiled with some garlic, cilantro and kosher salt. <<=== These are ingredients I keep regularly, so I didn't need to do any extra shopping. I hate having to buy tons of things I can't find at my local grocery.

I will continue sipping on my tea during the day, slipping in some more of that good milk. I will take meds only if I really need them, really.. need.. them. Again, I don't expect some immediate cure, but I hope my actions will lend some positive results.
