“ ’An eye for an eye’ makes the whole world blind” -- Mahatma Ghandi
2006 will be a fun, exciting, and productive year for AFDOP (Americans for the Department of Peace) and the passage of the Bill (which has already been introduced INTO THE HOUSE AND SENATE) to create a U.S., Cabinet-Level, Department of Peace. At this first meeting of the year, we will present ways in which each of us can participate on a large, medium, or small scale. Participation can be ongoing, or specific-event based. COME AND FIND OUT WHAT YOU CAN DO AT WHATEVER LEVEL YOU CHOOSE TO PARTICIPATE! We would also like YOUR INPUT about what specific things we (and you) can do this year to contribute to the passage of the DOP Bill.
What you will receive at this meeting:
1) Information about the DOP Bill and how to get it passed;
2) Information about opportunities for training in public outreach; non-violent communication; media outreach; and political outreach;
3) Opportunities for contacts and friendships with like-minded people, community organizations, and politicians;
4) Opportunities for fun, creativity, and service.
The intentions for this year are:
1) Forwarding the passage of the Dept. of Peace Bill via SPECIFIC MILESTONES, GOALS, AND ACTIONS, which will be set forth at this meeting;
2) Building an AFDOP sense of community;
3) Having events which are productive toward our goals, informational, fun, and fulfilling/nurturing for the participants;
4) Coordinating with other like-minded individuals and organizations;
5) Having workshops which support our own inner journey toward the peace we are creating in the world.
