Illusion of Fear
And it can feel so real, just think of that power of mind harnessed for JOY- How would the earth look then?

Emotional Stress - be it fear, anxiety, grief, anger,
depression, - is a choice. (often times a
subconscious choice)
What do you mean you might be asking?
Let's examine this a bit further...
Fear is a response to something. It is a response
to an event or experience that happened in our past
(a memory) or something that we are anticipating
happening in our future.
What is most apparent about fear is that it is not
something we experience in the present moment.
Have you ever heard the story of how they train
young elephants for the circus? I read this in
the wonderful writings of Alan Cohen in his book
titled "Dare To Be Yourself".
When young elephants are trained, they are kept in a
small confined area with a rope tied to their foot. This
rope is then attached to a stake and then pounded deep
into the ground.
These young elephants consistently attempt to pull up
the stake and free themselves. However, unsuccessful
in their attempts to do so, they give up and resort to
being trapped within the limits of the rope.
Later, as these elephants mature and grow big and strong
they become physically capable of freeing themselves with
one small yank on the rope. Yet they don't. Rather they
choose to remain confined to a small circular pen essentially
held prisoner by a rope that they could easily break free from
in any given moment. Yet they don't...
How is this so?
The elephants have weakened under the illusion that
it is not possible to set themselves free. They have
become conditioned by the memory - So they
give up and cease to even trying.
I invite you to take a moment and ponder this simple
yet very interesting phenomenon of these elephants...
How do you keep yourself trapped in your own life?
What are you capable of doing yet don't because you are
operating under fear... under the illusion that you can't?
(under an old memory that no longer serves you well)
Have you given up on something that you are essentially
capable of creating due to old conditioning?
What old memory still plays strong in your head that
keeps you tied to a false sense of identity?
What reality are you creating for yourself in your life?
Interesting questions to ask ourselves...
Here is a mini exercise you can do in this moment to
bring yourself into the present moment and to enjoy
a ne'w found freedom that may just surprise you.
Mini Exercise
1. Begin by closing your eyes and taking a deep
breath in... allowing yourself to relax...
and feeling centered...
2. Think of an example in your current life of how
you hold yourself back - how you hinder yourself
from shining brightly...
3. Realize that there is an old memory - a limiting belief -
that runs through your mind that prevents you from letting
go into the powerful present moment
4. Invite this old memory into the loving space of your Heart
(just as you would a small child who was afraid of the dark)
5. Embrace this old memory with love and acceptance
You may even want to say these words within yourself
"Even though I have this memory of ___________
I love and accept myself deeply and completely..."
"Even though I hold ______________ responsible for my
feeling ______________, I love and accept myself deeply
and completely"
"Even though I have held onto this limiting belief about
myself I love and accept myself deeply and completely"
"Even though there may be a part of me that wants to hold
onto this memory I love and accept myself deeply and
completely"
6. Feel the love and compassion within your Heart as
you breathe... into the very depth of your expansive,
compassionate loving Heart
7. Allow the expansive love within your Heart to embrace
and soothe all your feelings...
8. Know that you are loved and that everything is all right
just as it is in this present moment
9. Breathe into your place of unconditional love...
Revisit this mini exercise whenever you are up in your
head, caught up in your thoughts and feeling trapped by
old memories.
