Seder and Passover
I have such hunger for ancient tradition! I have a good buddy who is schooling me in 'Jew Lite' as she calls it. We are cooking a meal for Passover together, I am the prep chef since I do not know any dishes YET, for this sacred holiday. I am learning though-am I learning

it is the season for jews to celebrate the passover, which commemorates
(historically) our deliverance from slavery in egypt, under the mighty
hand of God. more modern interpretations stretch the analogy to see this
season as a time to rejoice in being released from whatever narrow
places (the hebrew word 'mitzrayim' is translated usually as 'egypt,'
but literally it means 'narrow places') we may have been bound in. it
occurred to me this morning that kirtan kriya has served as my moses,
and allowed God to deliver me from some narrow places where i was
trapped - most specifically and dramatically, in some relationships i
really should not have been in. i have posted before that this has been
a painful journey, but whatever tradition we may belong to, we all know
that there is hard work before there is reward. it has been hard to keep
faith at times, but God has led me, and you wonderful members of this
community have kept me up.
the moment is here for us to shake off the chains and walk with grace
and purpose toward the freedom we deserve. as yogi b says, to be happy,
healthy and holy is our birthright! i hope this season brings to you all
release from pain, from old habits that constrict you, from bad
relationships that limit you, from negative thoughts that create a
reality around you that frankly puzzles you, into the promised land,
into the light, into freedom!
baruch Hashem (bless God), may you all receive 1000 times the blessings
you have given to others,
happy passover!
I wonder if matzo balls are like fishsticks to the Catholic?
I'll report after the dinner, I am prepping for 11 guests, this is a BIg Event.
