I had some Big Surprises this Weekend- Concentrated Joy from Chaos
Date: 4/4/2005 1:26:02 AM ( 19 y ) ... viewed 1207 times I got home from Palo Alto this afternoon with a thoughtful, heartfelt gift from my NEW son-in-law to be- a car, his Mercedes.
I have been going around and around with my VW Jetta financing and if I actually should finance it- or dump it and finally own a vehicle again. Since I haved owned my business for the last 15 years I write off all my lease vehicles-so it made sense not to own. (Yes, it's tax time again! Line up those writeoffs!)
While my daughter was out of town at Topcoders, the software geek showdown, I spoke to her longtime boyfriend and lover about the decision process and my dilema with "over" mileage and some bodywork needed.
We began to talk about the likelihood of my daughter and he marrying-He seemed stymied by the situation. I asked why he didn't ask and give her the ring- they have had their share of breakups and downs. He confided he had had the ring for 18 months and they had been so chaotic during that time that either he or she had not felt it was the right time. They'd even broken up and each dated others in that time frame.
So I had a heart to heart with M and told him what I knew about my daughter and shared some information that clearly identified a course of action to change the dynamic. Including her curiousity over his dating the "other" girl.
When I deboarded the train , my daughter drove up "in my new car" as she called it, and she had the most beautiful engagement ring on her finger. Finally-And she was calm, shining, and happy! YES!
So apparently the information plus love and intention had made an impact and I have never experienced anything quite like this-I am humbled, pleased, and grateful. And I like the car.
My daughter (who had been close to a raving maniac as of late) made the decision to leave her high pressure, high tech career and become a teacher and, finally, accepted his proposal. Wedding is in the planning stages for in 6-8 months in Lake Tahoe BUT the Real News is there may be another life on the way.
If anyone had seen my life just 3-8 weeks ago-and then all this happiness surrounding this union (and let us not forget a new car! :-)) It all changed so fast, but I know why it changed so fast- I "treated" the heck of of the situation and held love in my heart no matter how crazy the conversation. And it all "came to pass" but come to think of it ...Not in the way I thought it would but in a much richer and deep way.
I am so excited by the possibility of a new life in our family that my chest feels radiant and warm-I can hear the pulse of the universe beating in my ears.
A new one is coming and I can't wait.
A new one is coming!Yipee- a union to made it possible for the *new-old* one to come and this one I have KNOWN!
YIPEEEEEEEEE- Life is full of wonderful surprises! An old friend comes to join me.
