My Grandmother, when she was in her 80's , would have told you without hesitation, "about 16."
She thought of herself as a young person, and that thought added lightness to her step that belied her years.
My grandmother, too, would have understood the advice of a Midwestern woman who told a Gallup pollster in search of the secrets of a long life: "Don't be frustrated", she said. "All my life I cried when it was time to cry, I laughed when it was time to laugh, and I sang whenit was time to sing." The good lady, the pollsters reported was "still strikingly attractive at 102".
Who could doubt that a person's outlook on life has the power to make the years rest lightly at any age?
