Thank You Leonard Cohen!
The miracle of real music - that goes so far beyond merely the words - and yet the words are still there! "... an identity card is not a man, a credit rating is not a country."
Date: 11/27/2018 9:38:34 PM ( 6 y ) ... viewed 1869 times Leonard Cohen said he would live on in his music. I feel it's true now and that it must have been true ever since he crossed the threshold.
I just listened to the following four pieces in this order - it's a sequence I recommend!
Anthem:

Elegy For Janis Joplin - Chelsea Hotel #1:

Continuing with:
"How I Got My Song, Leonard Cohen's speech at the Oct 21, 2011 Prince of Asturias Awards":

"... an identity card is not a man ..." and so much more - all of which is worth transcribing IMHO.

The following is something I typically post at another blog however the timing of this now is such that I feel it can relate here:
Daily Meditation:
It is important to know the difference between true sensitivity and unhealthy sensitivity, which is more touchiness or sentimentality. True sensitivity is a spiritual faculty that allows us to ascend very high and have access to a subtler world. Sentimentality on the other hand is an expression of the lower nature – that part in humans, which, wanting to be the centre of the universe, always finds that people do not pay enough attention to it and feels frustrated and hurt, and becomes aggressive. When we realize this distinction, we understand that there is great work to be done on our lower nature, and that this is the only way true sensitivity can open up and enrich itself. Sensitivity is not only the faculty to be moved and filled with wonder in front of those we love, the beauty of nature or works of art. True sensitivity opens the doors of immensity for us, the doors of light; it gives us the understanding of the divine order of things, it allows us to vibrate in unison with regions, beings and currents from heaven. -

Comment: The above quoted "Meditation" spoke to me with regards to Leonard Cohen's music as "works of art" that "opens the doors of immensity" and "it gives us the understanding of the divine order of things, it allows us to vibrate in unison with regions, beings and currents from heaven." I'm so grateful I have the freedom to express my impressions of this man's music with these terms!
I looked at Leonard's Human design BodyGraph and readily see a number of facets in his design that are apparent in his music. I can return here with more content about that. In the meanwhile his BodyGraph is available online at Zen Human Design and at the Genetic Matrix site.
“In a speech at Cohen’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on 10 March 2008, Lou Reed described Cohen as belonging to the ‘hugest and most influential echelon of songwriters.’"[2]

All the above followed after reading an article: "Five Ways to be Fully Authentic"[3]:
"When we love only the parts of ourselves we deem to be good or strong or smart, we reject the parts that make us real. This sets us up for inauthenticity. We start hiding what is real and showing off what is sparkly; but our seeming perfection is fake. The only thing to do with all our imperfections is to accept them with forgiveness and compassion. And to accept how we feel about our flaws (which is probably not so good). This does not mean that we are resigned to never growing or overcoming our weaknesses. It just means that we can be our true selves on this path. As Leonard Cohen sings in 'Anthem':
Ring the bells that still can ring.
Forget your perfect offering.
There is a crack, a crack in everything.
That’s how the light gets in."
that included a video that I started playing and then selected the YouTube site from where I got the url that I posted at the top of this blog.

"A man has no name for himself. God did not give us names and we were not given any authority to name ourselves. All this goes back to Biblical constructs in the Western World. So, all living people are nameless."[4]
