Note on James 1:15
These verses are describing a process of sin. Sin doesn’t just jump on us. It doesn’t happen like a seizure.
We have to conceive it.
Most Christians don’t recognize sin as something that has to be conceived. Therefore, they do little or nothing about the conception and only try and stop the birth of sin.
That would be like a woman who doesn’t want children but consistently has physical relations with a man. Unless something is wrong with her, she will conceive. The only way to stop a birth after conception is an abortion.
In a sense, many Christians are trying to have spiritual abortions.
They do things that allow sin to be conceived but then try and stop the birth. The better system is to stop the conception {in the first place - i.e. just do not do it!}.
This verse makes it very clear that it is lust that conceives sin. The New International Version calls this “desire.” This is saying that sin is conceived in our emotions.
If we don’t want to sin, then we have to control our emotions. Sin isn’t smart; it is emotional. Those who indulge negative emotions but don’t want the sin are like a woman who has physical relations with a man but doesn’t want to be pregnant.
That’s stupid. To stop sin, we have to stop the conception by not having intercourse with negative emotions.
James 1:16

The next verse states clearly that God only gives good and perfect gifts. He doesn’t put hardship on us. So, any doctrine that teaches otherwise is error.
James 1:17

The context of this verse is speaking of God not being the author of our temptations. The author is saying God only puts good and perfect opportunities in our path. Adversity will come, but not from God.
If it’s good, it’s God. If it’s bad, it’s the devil. And James goes on to say there is no variableness or shadow of turning with God. This is to say that this is an absolute truth. There are no exceptions. God is always good.
James 1:18

We aren’t born again because of our own holiness or from our own will. God, of His own will, begat us through the truth of His Word (1 Peter 1:23). And we, the body of Christ, are the first fruits of all His creatures.
James 1:19

We should be better listeners than we are talkers. If we listen well, we will speak better. And those who don’t say the first thing they think will usually not enter into wrath. Wrath is usually illogical. If we think about our actions and the consequences of those actions, it will eliminate evil wrath.
James 1:20

We cannot accomplish God’s will through our outbursts of anger. Regardless of what we think or how passionately we feel about something, wrath is not a godly tool.
The dictionary defines “wrath” as “forceful, often vindictive anger.”
This is different than just anger, which the Bible commands us to have:

" You who love the Lord, hate evil! He preserves the souls of His saints; He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked."
Proverbs 8:13, nkjv
" He who answers a matter before he hears it,
It is folly and shame to him."
Amos 5:15, nkjv
" Hate evil, love good; Establish justice in the gate. It may be that the Lord God of hosts Will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph. "
Romans 12:9, nkjv
" Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."
Ephesians 4:26 nkjv
" Be angry, and do not sin”:[a] do not let the sun go down on your wrath,"
The primary difference between a godly anger and sinful wrath is selfishness.
Wrath is rooted in hurt caused to self. A godly anger is the set of our entire beings against evil. It is not motivated by selfishness and may be totally without any selfish design.
