Make a business of your secret worship, and be not slothful in this business, but fervent in spirit, serving the Lord.
Take heed lest it degenerate into a formality, and you grow customary in your accustomed services. Go about the duty solemnly; be inward with God in it; it is not enough to say your prayers, but you must pray your prayers, must pray in praying, as Elijah did,
Jam. v. 17. Lei us learn to labor fervently in prayer, as Epaphras did,
Col. 4:12, and we shall find that it is the hand of the diligent in this duty that makes rich.
God looks not at the length of your prayers, nor shall you be heard for your much speaking or fine speaking;
but God requires truth in the inward part, and it is the prayer of the upright that is his delight.
When you have prayed, look upon yourselves as thereby engaged and encouraged, both to serve God and to trust in him; that the comfort and benefit of your morning devotions may not be as the morning cloud which passes away, but as the morning light which shines more and more.

Now from blogger:
So who do you say God is?
First His is the only one who creates something from nothing! WOW, Do you get the just of this statement alone?
He is the beginning {even though we can not fathom it} and has always existed!
Our pea brains with our limited understanding will never on our own completely understand this!
Yet, it is the whole theme of existence as we know it! The bigger question is how or why did God create us to begin with?
It all comes down to
" Agape Love " or total Love, which emanates from the Lord God our eternal Heavenly Father!
God has the Total ability and Good Will to make humans and allow us to function with a free Will. When you see things going sideways in the world today - it is because of the controlling elements of the devil {EVIL}} Not God!
God has given us a free agency to choose and decide whom we will follow! Our God is a Good God!
Not like the misdirected - evil leaning religions of the world today!
So how do we know the way to understand the world?
Well a couple of years ago I had the opportunity to discuss and answer this very question for a Young Black man, who had came by our house one dark winter evening. He was from the Congo, and had attended a Catholic school there - but did not understand the difference between God and the Devil.
We sat down and enjoyed some ribs which I had grilled for supper. I explained the reason or difference between Good and Evil. The Lord God is only Good or Holy and can not cause any man to sin. Sin is the choice of going against the Truth or what is right!
Then we discussed how sin operates and debilitates people to sink deeper into more sins. It is a free choice the devil can not make you do anything - you must cooperate!
The young man explained that he had wondered about the big difference between God's Good and the Evil of the Devil for years! I explained the difference is simple to see. If it is good, correct, and with in the Truth of God through free agency {choice} - then is this is God and Holy!
If it is totally controlling {We are not discussing traffic, laws, or rules of proper conduct in public places here etc.} or demanding of only certain type of conduct. Then it is evil! Because evil is dominating and controlling. Then this is pure evil no matter the reason(s) and is dominating your freedom of choice.
If you want to have a good relationship with our Heavenly Father then it is imperative for you to seek His Face.
Matt 6:33
Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all other things will be added unto you!
Get a Bible {NKJV preferred}, find a good Bible believing church and or go on line to AWMI.net or The Navigators {there are many other excellent miniseries on line.}
This is my prayer to you and or your family and friends.
It is a totally free choice!

Matthew 6:7, "But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen [do]: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking."
MATTHEW 6:5-8
Some of the most effective prayers are the shortest prayers. Jesus said, "Peace, be still," and the wind and the waves ceased (Mk. 4:39). He said, "Lazarus, come forth," and Lazarus came back from the dead (Jn. 11:43-44).
Today, there is a new emphasis on the quantity of prayer instead of the quality of prayer. Jesus never advocated long prayers, and there are only a few instances where Jesus prayed long prayers. This is not to say that communion with God is not important. It certainly is, but formal prayer is only one part of our communion with the Lord.
Psalm 5:1-2 uses the words "prayer" and "meditation" interchangeably.
Therefore, communing with God through keeping your mind stayed on the things of the Lord is also prayer. There are also times in prayer when we need to be still and know that God is God (Ps. 46:10).
Blogger reply:
Many times we ask the Lord to speak to us, but He can't get a word in "edge-wise." We're doing all the talking.
The principle Jesus is attempting to get across
in: {"But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen [do]: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking."
MATTHEW 6:5-8 - is that you do not need to be eloquent or hold a Master's Degree in order to reach the Lord God! Many of religions teach that you must repeat long chants and long detailed prayers to be heard!
As the scripture states, we just need faith with a determined effort. Because God gave each of us a "smart prayer system " : just learn to use it.
** Here is an excellent example
{ A young boy wanted to pray to The Lord God - He just said { God, this is Johnny }"
Have you got it yet?
Amen!
