Gynecomastia, locally known as man moobs or boobs, it is one way that nature uses to show humanity it has a sense of humor. Finding breasts on a man’s chest seems an unlikely event to many as it is to find stars in the morning sky.

However, research shows that more than 30 percent of men undergo gynecomastia at different stages of their lives in different forms. Part of the embarrassment men get when they suffer from gynecomastia is that people deem them responsible for this natural disease. In most cases, people think that boobs are fat deposits in the chest of a man as a result of lack of exercise or a sedentary lifestyle.

However, we can’t say that they are far from the truth. No amount of exercise or diet can be used to correct gynecomastia if you do not work to correct the underlying conditions that caused the problem in the first place. Gynecomastia is caused by the imbalance of hormone estrogen and androgens on the breast tissues. When the male breast’s glandular tissue under the nipple starts to proliferate, the person’s condition is referred to as gynecomastia. Click on this page for details about gynecomastia.

Types of gynecomastia

1. When a tissue disk forms around the areolar area of the nipple, it is a clear indication of gynecomastia.

2. When gynecomastia is caused as a result of fat deposit without the concentric mound of tissue that occurs around the nipples of a man or the enlargement of the breast component of the granular, it is referred to as pseudogynecomastia.

Gynecomastia occurs mostly in benign. This means a clinical evaluation can only be done when one breast enlarges more than the other. This breast feels hard to touch, is accompanied by a discharge, and fixed around the nipple. The lymph node enlarges and the skin changes. Surgical corrections can resolve the issue as the best way to do this on most occasions. A proper treatment strategy can also offer help resolve the breast pain, help the patient cope emotionally, decrease the size of the breasts, identify the underlying cause of gynecomastia, and determine it is not a result of male cancer.

Treatment Options for Gynecomastia

Medicines can provide partial gynecomastia regression. The three major medications include anti-estrogens, androgens, and aromatase inhibitors.

Androgens: On many occasions, gynecomastia can be as a result of low production of testosterone in a man suffering from hypogonadism. In some cases, doctors opt for therapies that replace testosterone that improve on the condition. However, it is not a recommended therapy for patients who are not suffering from hypogonadism because it worsens the condition since some bodies convert the hormone testosterone into estrogen.

Anti-Oestrogens: In the case where gynecomastia developed as a result of increased estrogen levels in the body, you can be administered with medicine containing anti-estrogen content. They will help you reduce the stimulatory effect of estrogen in the male breast. Tamoxifen is one of the strongest anti-estrogen medicines that can be used in this condition because of its reliability. It also reduces pain.

Aromatase Inhibitors: Aromatase is one of the processes that occur in a man’s body that converts androgens into estrogens. This leads to the occurrence of gynecomastia. Powerful aromatase inhibitors can be used to block any form of estrogen conversion or synthesis to reduce the rate of conversion in the patient’s body.

Surgery: This is one of the treatment methods used by men suffering from gynecomastia. Men who undergo psychological discomfort and in discomfort owe it to their long-standing gynecomastia when they were adolescents. Some of them may be suffering from malignancies. Surgery is recommended in this direction. If they undergo surgery before puberty, their breasts can regrow.
