Do Good and Expect Nothing!
Our behavior should not depend on other people’s attitudes.

My Human Design apparently requires a "bargain". Not having that has been a challenge for me. I can imagine that letting go of all my expectations of striking a bargain could be a great freedom. I think I'll eventually completely let go. In fact I'm reasonably certain that it is inevitable!

It came to me just a few hours ago that the "Third Agreement: Don't Make Assumptions" which I have fully adopted (in my current household since about seven years ago) can prevent faulty expectations! Then it follows that to the extent that one minimizes faulty expectations one spares themself of disappointment! Doing good and expecting nothing is certainly an ideal. And not making assumptions about any expectations that may be necessary will have its benefits as well.
I love the Four/Five Agreements! I made mention of the last night when meeting with someone who had major disappointment in their relating with me. I accept that as part of my Human Design with my Personality Sun and Earth at Line 3 and my Design Sun and Earth at Line 5. "... 5th lines can be very suspicious as others see things in them that are not there, or have expectations of them they cannot meet."[2]

Admitting to ourselves that we do not know what other people are thinking is one way to apply the "Third Agreement" and thereby not make assumptions. I tell myself several times a day "I do not know" and when I do that I free my mind from dwelling upon a thought, usually of others, that is based on an assumption of what others are thinking. Every time I free my mind in this way I feel a noticeable relief!
"As Ruiz says: 'The way to keep yourself from making assumptions is to ask questions. Make sure the communication is clear. If you don’t understand, ask. Have the courage to ask questions until you are as clear as you can be.'”[4]

I am grateful that I can access this blog from another's computer!
Just found these two axioms: "Act without expectation" and "Take no credit" along with 48 others in: "The Warrior’s Way – 50 Ways to Open Up to Personal Power".[3]
I am most impressed with the one that is at the top of this list: "Be the Word behind words"! That appeals to my first agreement: "Be Impeccable With Your Word"!
