Dark Night of the Soul--June 11, 2012
Yesterday, June 11, 2012, I had a melt town. The weekend was powerful.
Saturday June 9, I traveled to World Environment Day as sponsored by the Fundacion La Puerta at Professors's Park. Every step of my journey felt guided. I set out to get endorsements for the California Right to Know Label GMO Foods Ballot Initiative. Within six hours, I had aligned with the organizers of the event, and had personal contact with the Secretary of Agriculture for Tecate, Mexico. He was very much willing to promote letting others know about the ballot measure, but could not endorse it outright.
We did align on a project to create more people in Tecate growing some of their own food.
Sunday, June 10, I did an outreach project in my local neighborhood. Grow a Healthier Pizza has been my focus, Sunday, at a Beth Jacob Lag B'Omer Picnic,
the project expanded to Grow a Healthier Challah as well. Each Sabbath, Jews around the country eat wheat bread. We began to Grow a Healthier Challah with organic ingredients and Kamut (R) Khorasan ancient wheat. The kids had a ball.
Then came Monday. I was spent.
I faced the reality that I had to begin fundraising.
I needed to confirm my destination plans with Paul Wallace.
I spent time with Bob Quinn, the founder of Kamut International. It was through Bob that I first began my love affair with Kamut (R), a grain with a registered trademark. I asked Bob for funding of my Caravan.
Kamut International budgets a year in advance. Now is the time to get in my proposal for next year. I need money now--no less than $3000.00 to get the EG Mobile ready for the trip, and pay expenses.
I started to look around my room, and feel feelings.
I have a computer virus inside my head. There is no two ways to avoid saying it. I have some kind of computer ailment that keeps me addicted to this machine and sitting here hour after hour.
My thoughts are a mess. I can hardly think a straight line, no less follow a map up to Santa Rosa September 1 without a lot of time off this computer to get my room in order, my community responsibilities in order--I manage this 1/3 acre property--and organize in 3D.
Then, I decide to call Kelly Shea, who has been instrumental in helping my voice be heard on a national level. I have not spoke to Kelly for months. I left a message with Lori at Horizon. Kelly called me back. I asked for help with the Caravan. Kelly told me that the company was invested in helping national projects. She did not see right off, how helping in California was a national project for her company. She did say she would help put me in touch with allies at Nature's Path, who are helping.
I have been doing a lot of work with Horizon, and feel their organic cheese is a great fit for Grow a Healthier Pizza.
I need to send Kelly more info. More computer work...
I started to have a Dark Side of the Soul Moment. Could I really pull off this Caravan?
Then somewhere around 6 or 7 Paul Wallace called. Paul is my main connection with the National Heirloom Expo.
I felt heard. We will get back Wed to confirm my events at the show, September 11-12-13, 2012.
This morning has been a good morning.
I started with organizing my endorsements in a binder.
I can see powerful things I have done so far this year to advance the success of the Caravan.
That is the key. I have to take time to see what I have done and keep some focus. I need a Pitstop. I need to stop taking on new pieces before and spend time organizing what I have done.
I need to refine my words.
Then, my inspiration jumped to setting up a page on the New Plant Your Dream Blog called
