Starting tomorrow -- October 1st.
..Well it'll be October in my part of the world anyway.

I've decided to make some vegetable broth to use as a satisfying hot drink to supplement my juice. I'll also be drinking lemon squeezed into hot water - my lemon tree has a really good crop right now.
So anyway, today I'm making the vege broth. I've got rutabagas, onions, and celery simmering with two liters of spring water, a few whole black peppercorns and some lemon thyme. When it's turned golden and the onion smell has turned from "harsh" to sweet I'll call it ready :)
Experience tells me this batch will make about six, 200ml cups of well flavored broth.
Another supplement to my fresh made juice will be young green coconut water. I'll go out later today to the Pacific market section in my grocery store and pick up a few coconuts.
Part of the reason for my juice fast at this time is that I want to try urine therapy. It's supposed to be "easier" to tolerate if you're not eating dairy or meat. (I think that makes sense.)
I have an auto immune condition and CFS. I think the two are likely related. I have gut and (low grade) sinus issues that always improve while juice fasting and something I read recently suggests a possiblity the gut and sinus conditions are related closely to each other and also to the CFS. Dr Klinghardt suggests treating the sinuses with urine (yeah I know to many that will sound downright icky) but I have a friend in the Netherlands who has used this treatment very successfully. Into the bargain it's helped his auto-immune pain to the extent he's off the pain medication he'd been reliant on for over ten years.
...Anyway, I'm game to give it a go!
So, that's another supplement. Urine. Hmmmm. By the glass as well as applied to the sinuses. It's NOT something I'll be advertising to my friends and family. That's why I'm keeping a blog here really, so I have some way of sounding off if it turns out to be challenging.
Also, however it goes, perhapos it will be useful later to someone wanting to try it for themselves.
Annie.
