Organic Spies FInd Lies? The Facts don't add up!
Let's have an open Dialogue on Science, Ethics, and Food.
Let's support the Non-Profits who are clearly
working for the public good.
We need a thorough investigation of the facts
that are being put out in this video called
Organic Spies Find Lies.
I point out a few things I know for sure
in this blog, including my personal experience
that Kelly Shea, one of the OTA board members
being defamed, is an advocate of the Non GMO Project
and a very committed supporter of the organic agenda.
Se is a major asset to our Organic movement.
Slow down, here. Something is not right here.

Kelly Shea, VP for Government and Industry Relations and Organic Stewardship for White Wave, is clearly a fervent supporter of the Non GMO as well as Organic Agenda as expressed in the footage recorded at the Jeffrey Smith Session at the Natural Product Expo West March 11, 2011. Jeffrey Smith, author of Seeds of Deception, is one of our frontline and most successful heroes in the fight to have GE Foods labeled. Kelly Shea is one of his advocates. In this video she is asking others in the room of organic stakeholders to help Jeffrey Smith and addresses support he has received from White Wave/Horizon Organic. Many of the organic companies, including Horizon Organic are owned by larger companies with other agendas. The way we will transform the large companies is through the bridge building skills of pioneer organic leaders such as Kelly Shea who know how to befriend business leaders and legislators we want to win over to the organic side. As a member of the board of the Organic Trade Association (OTA), Kelly Shea is one of our finest assets to our organic movement. It is not uncommon for VP's to hold stock and be given stock in the larger umbrellas that own these subsidiaries. This does not reflect a conflict of interest. OTA has advanced the organic agenda and worked against GMO proliferation. We do disservice to the organic movement and the cause of ending GMO proliferation by slamming our own leaders working round the clock in our behalf. If we want to get rid of GMO's and see them labeled, something that I see as inevitable, support the organizations working for us. This is my morning take on the Plant Your Dream Blog. All together now, from Organic Stakeholders to Grassroots Activists. I live in both camps. Together we can claim the Tipping point now through collaboration and good will. Get in the garden and get back your own beat with nature. Grow some of your own food, even a beet in a pot. Grow some organic alfalfa seeds. In growing some of our own food, we become one with nature's original technology and we can make better decisions about how to achieve our purposes and goals. I stand with all of who want to live in a more beautiful world. That world comes to us through collaboration and working together.

How many other so called facts in this documentary
and information now being spread on the internet
do not add up?

ABOUT THE INCOMPLETE STORY
BEING TOLD ABOUT THE OTA
AND KELLY SHEA.
I want more facts to come out.
There is more I can say and will say
about my personal relationship with the OTA
over more than ten years.
There are positive things I want to say
about Julia Sabin, another powerful woman
business leader and bridge builder for the causes
of organic.

I bleed organic, and in my

I am concerned with the consequences
of spreading this documentary.
The facts do not check out.
I have felt so passionate about this
defamation of character and assault on
the reputation of the Organic Trade Associatiion
that I have laid many of my home priorities
aside to spend more than 30 hours researching and telling
some of my personal relationship to
Kelly Shea and the OTA in Plant Your Dream

All I can say is: whoa!
Slow down. We may be harming
our organic movement
and distracting ourselves from the real job
at hand: The real job is creating a groundswell
from bottom up and top down,

Many of the Organic Stakeholders
I know personally. When they got together
on March 11, they called for action and asked all
of us to work together.
If I were a Monsanto person in the audience
I would like nothing better than seeing
the documentary succeed and split our
movement.
These Organic Stakeholders want
the same things as those who are now
upset that we do have not halted GMOS
or the labeling of GMOS on our Foods.
The culprit for our lack of GE labeling is not the OTA.
They are not to be blamed.
I do not believe that the board members
I know are implicated in any slowdown.
Quite the opposite.
LET ME REPEAT
Jeffrey Smith's organization
The Institute for Responsible Technology,
the leader proponent of labeling of GMO foods,
is financially backed by Horizon Organic, one of the lead
organic companies Kelly Shea works for.
Does this add up that Kelly Shea and Horizon Organic would
be given so much support to Jeffrey Smith
to end GMO Proliferation if what
this video says is true?

They do not add up in the spinning out
of many of the comments now being made.

If these facts to not add up,

Disinformation is a conscious attempt to mislead.

her goodness. I have felt her support
for my own Organic Uprising Campaign.
I will fill in more details as I get them.
I have admired Julia Sabin. She has given more than
a decade of service to OTA and now serves
as its president.

TO CRITICISM HERE ON THE TREE HUGGER SITE
SHE SAYS:
As the GMO issue has gained steam, I am often asked by members whether OTA will get involved. My response: How can we not be involved--we are the Organic Trade Association! In fact, OTA scored a permanent and decisive win by successfully suing the state of Ohio to stop efforts by Monsanto to silence truthful claims about the absence of GMOs in organic dairy. Let's be clear--the decision to file this lawsuit was unanimously approved by OTA's Board. In spite of the obvious David and Goliath situation, the board that has been attacked went way out on a limb and litigated to protect the industry.
OTA has actually had an official position calling for mandatory labeling of GMO foods since 2000, and both OTA's Board and staff continue to be actively engaged in fighting the proliferation of GMOS to protect organic agriculture and trade and preserve farmer and consumer choice.
I have unfortunately grown accustomed to the circular firing squad, but the Organic Spies video took it to a new amazingly low level. It is destructive and cowardly to make conspiratorial accusations without full disclosure of who's behind these allegations. These tactics will not get us closer to mandatory GE labeling. The irony is that in my almost three years with OTA and dozen full board meetings, never once has any Board member expressed hesitance to do what is right for organic. Regardless of their business size, type or structure, our Board members make decisions to benefit the trade as a whole, with the integrity and respect you'd hope for from elected representatives.

There are many, many points that
need to be aired out.
WOW! GO SLOW HERE!
We need to open an authentic
real Dialogue on Science, Ethics, and Food
to get to the bottom of some of the questions
posed by this inciting Organic Spies VIdeo
that presumably in the name of
restructuring OTA, is potential divertiing
the Organic Movement from the real talk at hand,
unifying and taking on the real tarkets.
