How do you get alfalfa to grow in the ground?

I have succeeded in growing alfalfa in a pot,
but not yet in the ground.

I heard that GE Alfalfa when sprayed
with Round Up, even if Round Up Ready, 20% of crop
will die because it is open pollinated and a percent
is not GMO. The non GMO seeds will die when sprayed.

This is another reason that it is not a good crop to crop
Genetically Engineered.
