THE STORY IS TOLD HERE

On the phone with Katrina Frey
of the Frey Organic Vineyard,
the oldest organic winery.
I called Katrina to write up a blog about
the time in 2004 when she and others in Mendocino County
started an initiative to prevent GMO propagation of plants
and GMO animals in their county.
A woman named
Els Cooperrider, a medical researcher,
who founded the Ekiah Brewing company
became very concerned
about GMO proliferation.
When Monsanto Corp heard about this,
they spent around $800,000.
The Grass Roots campaign spent more
than they imagined, a wopping $140,000.
They did win the initiative by 57%.
There are a number of Grass Roots efforts happening now
to turn back the tide of Monsanto Corps.
Let the story of Mendocino be an inspiration to all of us.
