The word is plain and simple, "Fear." When a man or woman gets arrested for being an illegal alien, their family, their homes and their livelihood is threatened. They are beaten and they are humiliated and sometimes beyond recognition. Even the simplest thing like a kiss to their wife can get them thrown up against a wall. Oh, but wait, this was done in private so nobody knows the real truth.

The "supposed" guilty illegal immigrant is treated worse than a dog and he has no rights. Many times he does not have access to his family or a lawyer and all in the promise of freedom. Many illegal immigrants who will be deported cannot leave the US due to the fact that their country of origin will not accept them, so they must stay in the immigration jails for years or even life until a country will agree to take them. Some immigrants cannot go back to their original country out of fear of persecution and death.
Anyone who leaves their country in essence is considered a traitor, so many countries look at illegal immigrants as criminals and their families are injured and harmed. Some, not all immigrants have been a benefit to the society and doing jobs many others do not want to do. They work for less wages, support many stores and businesses and yes many marry and lead productive lives. I know many stories of immigrants who were better people than my neighbors and I know many who did not deserve what happened to them.
What happened to the land of the free. If you are so worried about not getting a job you wanted, then look at the newspapers. 400 people are standing in line for a job these days and how many illegal immigrants are in those lines? Probably none, as they are not applying for big jobs. Most are workers in small areas such as farms, kitchens, or through self employment.
My husband had a college degree and was an Engineer. He was very well educated not like your typical scenario of a poor dirt farmer. There are many immigrants that are an important part to the society.
The other side of the coin is that there are laws in place now and we must abide by the law. But what I am talking about is the immigrant already in the US, Canada, Australia or many other countries with immigration laws and problems. Do we just kick out the person who has no papers, even though he can prove he is working to get his papers. Some are dragged out of their homes and the paperwork is destroyed so they cannot stay.
