The so called "food safety" bills now running through Congress appear to further enlarge upon already over-extend federal powers to trespass into the homes of Americans who grow and/or distribute food as a more healthy option over the corporate controlled foods of commerce. Ironically the acts committed under color of law are claimed justified under Congress's power to regulate commerce even though these instances that concern individual Americans typically do not involve exportation or inter-state commerce! Intra-state "commerce" would normally come under the State's jurisdiction. However the wall that the Constitution insists stands between federal and state sovereignty has been broken down to the extent the federal agents repeatedly step over what remains of that wall. How is that possible? Read this article:

The following quote may seem unrelated to the title of this blog to some but just think of the part that the Congress played here.
From: "The Creed of the Old South," 1915 by Basil L. Gildersleeve.
"The war between the States," which a good many Southerners prefer, is both bookish and inexact. "Civil war" is an utter misnomer. It was used and is still used by courteous people, the same people who are careful to say "Federal" and "Confederate." "War of the rebellion," which begs the very question at issue, has become the official designation of the struggle, but has found no acceptance with the vanquished. To this day no Southerner uses it except by way of quotation .... "The war of secession" is still used a good deal in foreign books, but it has no popular hold. "The war," without any further qualification, served the turn of Thucydides and Aristophanes for the Peloponnesian war. It will serve ours, let it be hoped, for some time to come."
