Day 1 - November 23, 2008
Intro about me and my past experiences with fasting, my reasons for fasting

My name is Jackie and I'm a 19 year old female. I have basically been overweight my whole life and have had my fair share of struggles in trying to lose weight. For as long as I can remember I have dreamed of being thin, but could never find a balance when consuming food. Like any teenage girl I've tried the craziest diets (bulimia, 600 calories a day, die hard at the gym) and have FAILED. I did successfully complete a liquid fast a couple years ago for 21 days and lost 17 lbs. (That knocked me down from 173 to 157)((The liquid fast has been the only "diet" that I have been able to keep off)) My weight fluctuates in a range of 10 lbs, usually 150 - 160 lbs. I am a college student so this water fast is going to be extremely hard for me regarding the NO ALCOHOL aspect and the late night trips to the student union. Also this semester will be ending in less then three weeks, so I hope the water fast will not effect my focus towards final exams. Also it's freezing outside with a foot of snow, so I am probably going to be colder during the fast due to my lack of energy. (I will be deprived of my mocha latte from Starbucks!)My reasoning for doing the 21 day water fast is for mental clarity and weight loss. Like any average person I have many aspects in life that stress me out and during these 21 days I want to find myself in a more peaceful state of mind. I want to be able to understand and to look at conflicts on both sides before coming to a conclusion. For weight loss, I just recently flipped through some pictures of my family from last Christmas and told myself I WILL NOT LOOK LIKE THIS ANYMORE. It is time for a change and that change will start today. No more excuses. I dont like how I look and I am the only person who can change that. So please join me for this long, frustrating, mental test to happiness. If anyone has any questions or comments feel free to get ahold of me as I will be blogging my progress daily. And for any other water fasters out there...WE CAN DO THIS!
