Post-fast update
Harder than fasting??
Date: 8/24/2008 7:48:12 AM ( 16 y ) ... viewed 2485 times Well there was a question regarding how I am doing starting back on food so I thought I'd share my experience so far. Yesterday was my first day of actually eating. I started the morning with some veggie juice (kale, carot, ginger, cilantro, dandelion greens, cucumber) which was a welcome change from the watered down fruit juice I had been drinking for the past month. At lunch time I had a banana and a carrot and instantly got a bunch of sores all around my mouth which got me a little worried but after maybe two hours they went away, not sure what caused this, perhaps getting my digestion going again after so long caused some weir reaction. The hardest thing was stopping eating. I knew I didnt need anymore food since I felt quite full, but it was like my body wanted me to take in as much food as possible. In order to prevent myself from binging I just grabbed a few cherry tomatoes from the garden and went on hike to get my mind off things which worked well. Dinner was some pineapple/grapes which did not cause any problems. It was still hard to stop again but I really dont want to stuff myself.
I have read that after a fast you should eat very little since it takes a while for the digestive system to get going again, but apparently that was not the case for me. It only took about 10 hours for my lunch to pass through( I could see small orange flecks, which is why I ate carrots to see how long it took to pass).
This morning I made some more juice from the garden. It is great to be able to be eating/juicing all the veggies from my garden since I have been forced to give everything away for the past month. So in the end,the hardest part for me is controlling myself from overeating t this point. I think this post-fast period is almost harder than the fast itself since my body got a taste for food and just wants more! I start school again tommorrow(last semster!!!) so that should make it easier since I will be busy and only have whatever food I take. I am hoping to start eating more as soona s possible though. I am like sickly thin and need to put some weight back on. I saw my dad for the first time in months and he asked me if I was sick or something. I guess I didnt realize how much weight I really lost. I am planing on eating plenty of nuts in the coming weeks to put on some weight, which I will enjoy since I LOVE nuts. I swear I could live off fruit, nuts, and veggie juice, haha.
