A look at Pennsylvania Ag Seed Saving Library Protocols 10 y
Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Seed Saving Library Protocols have a well meaning intent. That is my conclusion after speaking to Johnny Zook, Seed Program Supervisor for the Pennsylvania Department of Ag. Events at the Joseph T Simpson Public Library between Earth Day 2014 and now, and its Seed Library, I hope will continue to inspire a national conversation, not only about Seed Saving, but GMOs. The internet outcry when it appeared that the Simpson Seed Library was being asked to shut down, or being addressed as a potential site of Agri-Terrorist activity, affected me deeply. My earlier stories this week reflect my pain. Deep issues need to be addressed now as the "grow your own food" impulse awakens. My intent is to see the US again become a nation of gardeners and for Federal as well as State Seed Laws to be wide enough to "Open Pollinate" and support the needs and goals of the emerging Seed Library and Seed Bank movement. --Leslie Goldman, Your Enchanted Gardener, Plant Your Dream Blog, August 8, 2014
UPDATE MONDAY AUGUST 11, 2014
I had some serious typos in this that I just corrected. I had a second conversation with Johnny Zook today. I will write about that in this Plant Your Dream Blog. http://curezone.org/blogs/fm.asp?i=2195490

cross-legged in the grass, laying out the blueprint for an agricultural

This page is informative and well done. Because of the recent viral stories about your Seed Library I was introduced to the idea of a Seed Library. I am a teacher at The National Heirloom Exposition. I am familiar with the Petaluma Seed Bank but did not know about Seed Libraries in Public Libraries. I will be ordering your umbrella, tote bag, and note cards and be sending you Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Company seeds. I want to join your library as a friend. Keep up the good work. After giving up on figuring it out I have (finally) been informed by Dennis Nyhagen that he designed and authored the original graphic and slogans for The Stephanie Miller Show way back 1n 2004. All I basically did was make it more legible, slightly change the wording and get it big enough to print out after several people on Salon.com expressed interest in having a copy of the tiny version they posted.
So you can start calling it Dennis Nyhagen’s poster a ... read more

Support Seed Library and GMO Education President Obama
Events at the Joseph T. Simpson Public Library in Mechanicsburg, PA and concerns from their State Department of Agriculture about how their Seed Library was running have opened the need for a national conversation about Seed Saving and related issues of GMO education. Issues of liability from Patent Seed Infringement, the inherent Birthright of Gardeners to Save Seeds and return seeds to Seed Libraries, as well as the safety of heirloom seeds from GMO contamination are all up to be addressed.
To President Obama,

Pennsylvania's Seed Library inspires a National Conversation 10 y
I just spoke to Naomi Creason, City Editor of The Sentinel, a newspaper that covers events in Mechanicsburg, PA. I am changing the title of this Plant Your Dream Blog. Originally called, "Pennsylvania Seed Library in Mechanicsburg Halted" to "Pennsylvania's Seed Library inspires a National Conversation about Seed Saving and GMOs."
Toward this end, I am inspired by events at the Thomas P. Simpson Public Library where their Seed Library, that intended to give out and receive back the harvest of seeds from gardeners has been halted from receiving back this seeds. The Seed Library will remain open, with new protocols that do give it permission from the Pennsylvania Department of Ag
to have a Seed Library, just not receive back seeds.
The new article Naomi Cleason wrote on August 5 is called, "Pa. department backs seed library protocol as reaction grows."
I want to do some fine tuning of this….This was written Aug. 9.

Nan Ondra writes on her Blog, A Garden in a Library.
I’m sure that some of you, at least, must already be familiar with the concept of a seed library, but I have to admit that until last week, I’d never known such a thing existed. Reflections on the assault on seed saving 10 y
Reflections on the assault on seed saving
I have a vision that one day all banks will be seed banks. This will come after Uncle Sam marries Anti (Auntie) GMO. This marriage will come through your help. Many more gardeners are needed to fulfill the original vision of the founding gardener presidents of the U.S.
The model for this dream of banks as seed banks was inspired by visiting the Petaluma Seed Bank that is located in a historic bank building. The Petaluma Seed Bank is the Ca headquarters for the Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Company. It is from here that Paul Wallace and staff organize the upcoming National Heirloom Expo, Sept 9-10-11, 2014.
The sobering reality is that Uncle Sam, the personification of the U.S., is currently supporting popularizing GMO Seeds. Biotech is on the wrong side of the farm bed. This is a shortsighted vision, and has little to do with empowering the individual or the health of any nation.
I am doing research today on Seed Libraries inspired by Pennsylvania Dept of Ag shutting down a Seed Library at the Here is one Facebook page I found. Here are where I am creating my notes: ASSAULT ON SEED SAVING http://curezone.org/blogs/fm.asp...

I have spent the week learning about the existence of the Seed Library Movement.
