As much as Rosa Parks was called the Mother of the Freedom Movement, I see this event at the Joseph T. Simpson Library in Mechanicsburg a moment of history for the Seed Freedom Movement. This story will not go away soon. I am glad to get a heads up on the national Seed Library movement. David King had called for a National summit of Seed Libraries for 4-6 pm, Wed, September 10 at The National Heirloom Exposition I am scheduled to lead a session on Uncle Sam Marries Anti GMO.

I have been researching this story.

It is important to make a correction that this is a state rather than a federal issue.

Pennsylvania has tons of rules, according to Art Davidson, one of the primary voices that answers questions for Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds.

There is a Federal Seed Law of 2004 that aims to protect patented seeds, but I am not sure this is involved in this case.

I am very concerned about that the Fed gov is in the farmbed with GMO Biotech seeds. They would like a one side fits all, standardization of seeds to control our food.

I am very concerned that a massive shift in consciousness is needed. We can each help Uncle Sam Marry “Anti” (Auntie) GMO. Many more gardeners are needed. This, however, is a state issue, not a Federal issue in this case. There are different laws in different states. Pennsylvania has many laws. This shutdown was from the State Department of Agriculture, not the Federal USDA.

There is a Fed move to support GMO Seeds and Biotech in the farm field. Note HIliary Clinton’s comment at a recent BIO (Biotechnology Industry Organization meeting:
Hillary Clinton at BIO Hillary Clinton Cheers Biotechers, Backing GMOs and Federal Help

“I stand in favor of using seeds and products that have a proven track record,” she said, citing drought-resistant seeds she backed as secretary of state. “There’s a big gap between the facts and what the perceptions are.”

She does not understand that Heirloom Seeds are the seeds that protect our future. GMO Seeds are based on a shortsighted vision.
