What Is the Difference   18 y
Between Pandemic Flu and Avian (Bird) Flu?

Pandemic Flu A pandemic is a global disease outbreak. A flu pandemic occurs when a new influenza virus emerges for which people have little or no immunity and for which there is no vaccine. The disease spreads easily person-to-person, causes serious illness, and can sweep across the country and around the world in a very short time. It is difficult to predict when the next influenza pandemic will occur or how severe it will be. In the past century pandemics occurred in 1918-1919, 1957-1958 and 1968-1969. Wherever and whenever a pandemic starts, everyone around the world is at risk. ...   read more

FDA's Regulatory Policy on Sending Gifts of Food & Drink from Other Countries

Imagine sitting down to talk with eight mullahs in a village in central Afghanistan, meeting with people in the war-torn Gulu district in Uganda, or attending a town meeting of displaced persons in Colombia. Is Organic Food Really Safe?   18 y
Institute of Cell and Molecular Biology, University of Edinburgh

Is Organic Food Really Safe? Among the distinctly unpleasant odours emanating from the controversy surrounding food safety, one area of agriculture has come up smelling sweet. In the welter of adverse publicity concerning BSE, E coli poisoning and genetically modified (GM) food, organic produce has acquired the mantle of purity and healthiness. In fact organic food has never been more popular. People assume that it is natural, non-industrialised and therefore problem-free. But just how safe is organic farming? Investigations both in Europe and in the US have failed to find any diffe ...   read more

xm radio a nightmare with commercials

Friends I want to wish you all a happy holiday in my Blog and tell you my experience with being part of the “XM Nation”. XM nation, much like our own nation has a real problem with providing customer service. I was not delivered a product that works and let me tell you that if you are switching to XM radio for less commercials, lol. You will hear more commercials, and very annoying ones at that. When listening to one XM station, say news talk. You will hear promos for all their other stations and these promos are usually promoting radio shows that are not even related to your taste. It is the liberals that are the bigots

i find it very amusing that when i point out bigotry. One immediately wants to think its coming from the right. The truth is that in my life , most of the hate, anti gay, anti black remarks i heard are from the left. I had a roomate who is as left as one can get. She was one of the saddest people I ever met. She was obese, yet called herself a Raw Foodist. Sad, that every night she would go out to a 7-11 type store and eat meat, fried food, etc She only had bad things to saty about people and was convinced that all conservatives were the acuseof the worlds ills. The funny thin is tha ...   read more

Sexism and anti gay bigotry is alive and well in the headsets-one camera persons perspective   18 y
Sports ignores the continued bigotry

I am a cameraman for many different venues from sports to whatever. I am very disappointed that after 15 years working as a camera person. I hear the same stereotypes of people echoed by many working in the business. The same stereotypes of gays can be heard almost every day and while many will Automatically insert the word gay into the description of a person. A recent example: While I was doing a professional sports event. Another Camera person described a Particular woman as a ”300 pound lesbian”. He being a lesbian was totally unrelated to the story he told. I asked him if he ...   read more

Dreams can come true?

It was 7am when I saw bubba wiping his eyes clear while sitting at a downtown Austin, Texas Bus stop with his body wrapped in a partially torn Military green sleeping bag that was unraveling at the bottom from being dragged along the sidewalk. I nodded hello and he answered in a raspy voice. Good morning and happy Thanksgiving, he said while still wiping his eyes. He then stuck his hand under the sleeping bag through his layers of clothing. He pulled out a partially smoked cigarette butt and searched for a light. He looked at me and put his hands together in the motion of lighting the ...   read more
