Save Great Bear Rainforest   12 y
"The Great Bear Rainforest is nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the Coast Mountain Range on the west coast of British Columbia. The ancient Great Bear Rainforest is one of the largest tracts of temperate rainforest left in the world (2 million hectares), and is home to thousands of species of plants, birds and animals. In this lush rainforest stand 1,000-year-old cedar trees and 90-metre tall Sitka spruce trees. Rich salmon streams weave through valley bottoms that provide food for magnificent creatures such as orcas (killer whales), eagles, wolves, black bears, grizzlies, and the rare and mysterious white Kermode (Spirit) bear." Truth About Nuclear Power   12 y
This is a very long article but well worth reading! Discusses nuclear power from the standpoint 1)how the industry "sells" it to the public via media 2)radiation from Fukushima nuclear disaster is far worse than reported and risk to children of radiation-induced cancer is extremely high 3)the cost of nuclear powered electricity is subsidized by the government 4)the cost of clean-up after an power plant accident is passed off to the public 5)there is still no safe way to store nuclear waste 6) nuclear power is NOT "Green" despite Pres. Obama's reassurances, 7)the likelihood that a catastrophic nuclear accident happens in the U.S. is a "near certainty" 8)that nuclear power will not offset global warming 9) and other information WE THE PUBLIC need to know!

http://whowhatwhy.com/2012/02/10/nuclear-damage-control/#ixzz1m01Lqjqs What if you were promoting an industry that had the potential to kill and injure enormous numbers of people as well as contaminate large areas of land for tens of thousands of years? What if this industry created vast stockpiles of deadly waste but nevertheless required massive amounts of public funding to keep it going? My guess is that you might want to hide that information. From the heyday of the environmental movement in the late 1960s through the late 1970s, many people were openly skeptical about the dest ...   read more
