SOMETHING TO PONDER: George Carlin
George Carlin’s wife died early in 2008 and George followed her, dying in July 2008. It is ironic George Carlin - comedian of the 70’s and 80’s - could write something so very eloquent and so very appropriate.
An observation by George Carlin:
The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees bu ... read more

Separating The Tares From The Wheat
John 6:61, ’When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Does this offend you?’
JOHN 6:60-69
This scripture, as well as Matthew 15:12, reveals that people will be offended by the Gospel (or the truth). As much as possible, we should make sure that it is not ourselves that are offensive. But we should not labor under the deception that everyone will receive the Gospel, even if the truth was presented properly. We know that Jesus represented His Father perfectly and yet ... read more

Not cannibalism, but speaking of the spiritual man. 5 y
** Jesus lives in the spirit of believers. All that He is will be available to you if you will depend on Him instead of your own abilities.**
Receiving Christ - May 13th
John 6:56, ’He that eats my flesh, and drinks my blood, dwells in me, and I in him.’
JOHN 6:47-59
Many thought that Jesus was speaking of cannibalism, but He was speaking of the spiritual man. Just as the physical man receives life from the food he eats, so the spiritual man receives life as he partakes of Jesus, the life of men (Jn. 1:4; 10:10; 14:6) or the ’Bread of Life.’ Just as the life of a root is found in the soil, or a branch in the vine, or a fish in the sea, so the believer’s true life is found to be in union with Christ.

Salvation: An Eternal Relationship
Mark 6:54, ’And when they were come out of the ship, straightway they knew him,’
MARK 6:53-56
The word ’know’ can mean many things from as little as ’to perceive with the senses or the mind’ to a much deeper meaning of ’a thorough experience with.’
This knowing, then, is not just intellectual, but a personal, intimate understanding. Jesus defines eternal life as knowing God the Father and Jesus Christ. Eternal life is having an intimate, personal relationship with God the Father and Jesus the Son. This intimacy with God is what salvation is a ... read more
Actual LOVE - not what the world practices! 5 y
** We can only Love because Our heavenly Father first loved us! AMEN! **
Featured Bible Verse:
1 Corinthians 13:4-8
Love is patient and kind;
love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude.
It does not insist on its own way;
it is not irritable or resentful;
it does not rejoice at wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth.
Love bears all things,
believes all things,
hopes all things,
endures all things.
Love never ends.
As for prophecies,
they will pass away;
as for tongues,
they will cease;
as for knowledge,
it will pass away.

Why does fear come? 5 y
Where does fear come from? Fear is simply negative faith or faith in reverse.
Matthew 14:30, ’But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.’
MATTHEW 14:30-31
The reason Peter began to sink was because of his fear. In verse 31 Jesus used the word ’doubt’ in reference to Peter’s fear. Fear is simply negative faith or faith in reverse. Where did this fear come from? Second Timothy 1:7 says, ’For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power and of love, and of a sound mind.’ It didn’t come from God. This fear was able to come upon Peter because he took his attention off of Jesus and put it on ... read more

Word Power
May 5th
Matthew 14:29, ’And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.’
MATTHEW 14:29
This one word ’come’ was spoken by the one who made all things (John. 1:3) and it had just as much power in it as the words that were spoken at creation. This is where the power came from for Peter to walk on the water. Likewise, any word spoken to us by God carries in itself the anointing and power it takes to fulfill that word if we will release it by believing it and acting on it.

What is the Soul?
Is it a separate spirit apart from the body or is it a living person? Notice as to what makes a living soul:
Genesis 2:7 ”And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”
** A body plus the breath of God = a living soul.
There has to be a body which has the breath of life given by God, in order for man to become a living soul. Our spirit is our breath, which God breathes into us making us a living soul. The act of recreating our soul by uniting our body with the breat ... read more

Godly Sorrow Leads To Repentance

Mark 6:12, ’And they went out, and preached that men should repent.’
MARK 6:7-12
’Repent’ comes from the Greek word, ’metanoeo,’ and literally means to have another mind. Repentance is a necessary part of salvation. Repentance may include Godly sorrow, but sorrow does not always include repentance.
Repentance is simply a change of mind accompanied by corresponding actions. There is a Godly type of sorrow and an ungodly type of sorrow. Godly sorrow leads to repentance. Ungodly sorrow, or the sorrow of this world, can only kill the ... read more

Jesus told Jairus to ’believe only,’ implying that faith and fear can operate in us at the same time. This is also the reason James tells us not to be double-minded, or to waiver (Jas. 1:5-8). Fear will negate faith. We can have both thoughts of faith and thoughts of unbelief at the same time.

Mark 5:6, ’But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshiped him.’
MATTHEW 8:28-34; MARK 5:1-17; LUKE 8:27-39
The word ’worshiped’ is taken from the Greek word ’proskuneo’ which means ’to prostrate oneself in homage to; do reverence to; adore.’ The fact that this tormented man ran to Jesus, and not away from Him, indicates that even ’demon-possessed’ people have a free will and Satan cannot control an individual without his consent.
Many battles have been fought over whether or not a Christian can be demon possessed. The Greek word for ’pos ... read more

Cramming and jamming never worked very well in college - from what I saw! My wife worked as a Female dorms monitor at USF, Tampa - while I attended there. One thing she noted was just before exam time - the girls crammed and had notes posted like ” Death to those who disturb ” Quite or else! ” ETC.
