Blog: Determination! Raw...Cleanse...Health...Mind!
Ok, so here it is day 10, just about over...how do I feel? Great! Still have a few lemons. Not sure how long I will be going. I think I will keep going until lemons are gone and I think I am going to go over to wheatgrass and coconut water for a few days. I love coconut water. I do not need to reiterate what amazing qualities that coconut water has, do I? ;).
I ate broth with spirulina flakes for lunch, think I overdid it, because I am so fulllll! Only lost 1/2 lb. I know the weight loss is slowing, which is why I am going to go to my change in fast per above. Just not sure if it would be ok to do parasite cleanse too...Gotta get an 'e' in tonite.
Well, my Oat Groats were done sprouting today, so my offical journey has begun back to being a rawie. Made some 'granola' with almonds and blueberries tosssed altogther with ground flaxseed and agave nectar. So excited! My rye is still sprouting in the bag and am soaking wheatberries to stick in my freshlife sprouter. Did I mention how much I love my sprouter! Those wheatberries will probably be ready to go for some Essen bread by Friday nite/Sat a.m. It goes real fast in my sprouter, it's just the dehydrator that holds it up. Only a 4 tray excalibur and well, ya know....Am on the verge of getting the American Harvest one, it is way cheaper and I figured if I saw Bonobos in NY using it, well, why can't I? ;)

Rye is totally easy to sprout. It adds a little 'density' to the bread with a little extra flavor. I actually use a 1:3,4 ratio with Rye to Wheat. This time I did it in the Sproutman bag and they sprouted in 2 days as the book said. Anyway, here is my husband's favorite recipe. I usually just 'wing' it...but this is the base.
3-4 cups total of sprouts
1-1.25 cups of shredded carrots
1 cup of onions (pulverized, I do not like to 'know' about onions)
I actually run the sprouts through my juicer with the blank plate on, but you can do it through the food processer. Then dehydrate at the thickness you desire and yum, yum, yum! I dehydrate on the thinner side b/c I want it to be DONE! Don't forget to flip it over ;).
Have fun! Let me know how it goes.
I actually adapted this recipe from "Rawsome", by Brigette Mars. Great book. Nice easy simple recipes and cute little encyclopedia of fruits and veggies like in the "Sunfood Cuisine" book. There is a great recipe for 'Holiday Nuts' in there. Will send to you if you would like ;)
