Blog: Stating my Intentions
Today I'm on a lil mini-vacation on Maui with a friend of mine that came out to visit me. Even though we're on vacation, I have still had decent habits. I had a little junkfood out here, shared some Hawaiian chocolates with her that I really like, had some ice cream. Even though I didn't make pure healthy choices, I didn't get all stupid about it. The worst I did was eating till a bit over-full b/c I was falling asleep at this internet cafe where I need to get some homework done (ok, I'm not 100% on vacation, still too much to do). She's out on a boat looking for dolphins. I did not finish my breakfast - that's part of the new habits I'm trying to develop - finish when full, not when everything is gone. Anyway, that's good.
Thoughts on the Law of Attraction, I've concluded that although it corresponds with some very important principles that strongly influence one's life, it is too absolute. It sits completely in the psychological/spiritual realm and denies the physical. Actually, my spiritual philosophy does have a way to explain why the physical realm is designed to limit or direct us in some ways and why it may be designed to give us certain challenges. And all of this is ok. It's just another dichotomy where one truth is focused on, which is fine, but it is not the whole picture. Still, I will continue with this 100 day experiment and focus on improvement on these psychological aspects of what I want to do and taking action in those area.

If I may comment...your understanding of LOA may be a more of the pop version than the actual principle . Many people talk about it yet fail to understand properly. It does not have to be absolute but it does exist and if you understand it, you will see it.
We attract everything into our lives based on our dominant thoughts & feelings, this happens on a sub conscious level for the most part since thats where most of our feelings and actions come from.
Also, the universe wants us to grow, so we will also attract people, circumstances and yes we will attract a crisis when we are not living our dream, from our heart. We will attract a crisis to wake us up and get us back on our path.
Dont think in terms of absolute...think in terms of flexibility to whtever happens and find the blessing in everything and know that whatever you attract is perfectly designe to keep you living from your heart and living your dream. LOA is grossly misunderstood by most and even The Secret promotes some misinformation.
Our life is a refelction of our dominant thoughts, feelings and actions form the past and the law of attraction at work in real time.

Is it too late to respond to previous posts?
I am a Nutritrion & Lifestyle Coach ion NYC...I have a book coming ou on the Psychology of Fat Loss and I am also becoming certified in teh Demartini method.
If your interested, I can shed some light on the topic. I can tell you 100% that every website, post, blog, etc I have seen on teh food/weight and LOA is crap.
Most people who are talking and selling e-books on the topic are not only not healthy or lean, but have this colloquial/pop understanding of the LOA.
You can try to attract your ideal body but if you dont know how to eat, exercise and live a healthy, inspired life - your wishing and positive thinking will be in vain.
You need to learn and to move your ass more than you need ot visualize. Visualizationa dn reprogramming the mind is important for some, but not the larger part of teh equation.
Learning how to set goals properly and what it takes to achieve those goals is what my book is all about and I will shed light on the topic as well as share the truth about what works and what doesnt work.
In the meanwhile, get Paul Chek's book 'How to Eat, Move and Be Healthy'
peace

Hi CroMag,
Thank you for your input. Yes, I do believe much of what LOA has to offer. I have a spiritual philosophy that encompasses more than that but yes, I do agree with what you say. I also agree that we must incorporate the physical laws with the spiritual ones, that we cannot eat ice cream daily and be vibrantly healthy.
Part of where that came from was the book "The Amazing Power of Emotions" (or something like that) that I have on CD in my car. It is direct from the Hicks' and they do say quite literally that you can make bad food choices daily and attract the ideal weight if the mind is aligned. I think they are wrong in that, but also if one is aligned they will likely want to make better food choices.
Tis okay, I was trying to reconcile my disagreement with that principle which I got right from the Hicks' but that I think is incorrect and does sound like a pop version of the true spiritual laws. After all, who doesn't want to believe that by feeling good about eating ice cream daily they won't lose weight! lol
So I am still working on my habits although taking a break for a bit to do a Master Cleanse which I like to do now and again. Then I'll get back on board and eat more salads! mmmm... salads.... miso salad from California Pizza Kitchen is SO good!
:-)
Ok, now I'm babbling again. Thank you for the input. It is nice to hear that you agree that much of LOA & Weight Loss info out there doesn't seem quite right. I agree. It does seem to be a misinterpretation. Anyway, I'll continue working on my thoughts and intending good things. I think the most important thing I did was ASK for the right method to come my way to battle my bad habits and then I came across Paul McKenna's program on TV and I like that. I already changed one bad habit and I'll work on that once my fast is over...
Cheers
~Ruth
