Re: Haze...Some quest. please

Actually its eleven weeks since the accident and three weeks since I stopped the chiro.
This means your neck has had ~8 weeks to undergo it's adaptative repair process without corrective intervention.
I did have pain before and during chiro though.
Normal.
I was feeling slowly better when I STOPPED chiro (esp. my neck!)but after the massage therapist strecthed (for like 10 seconds) I am feeling stiff and uncomfortable.
I cannot speak for the massage but, any intervention can yield discomfort and/or pain. The technique can make the difference.

My xray showed Phase 1 slight straightening from accident (there are 4 Phases I was told) and calcium deposits in neck.
Varying schools of thought. The "straightening" of the neck can result from muscle splinting following trauma. "Calcium deposits" could develop sometime down the road from damage to the joint but that takes some time and will not develop overnight.

Do you agree with the strengthening of the mid back. My massage therapist said this was VERY important.
I cannot speak for massage but, the apparent trauma would appear to lie with the neck. Therefore, attending to the immediate concern (that being the neck and surrounding structures) may be the best suited option...first. It never hurts to strengthen any traumatized area but there is a time and a place and for now it would appear they need rest.

Right now I feel my upper back (traps) feel TIRED. I want to sit slightly hunched over.
Perfectly normal under the circumstances. The muscles may be working overtime in a protective state. Giving them a rest for a while and wearing a soft collar could facilitate the rest needed. Carrying the weight of the head while injured can be quite taxing to the musculature.

Two weeks ago I was able to sit perfectly upright for MOST of the time.
Irrelevent.
A hot bath is one of the FEW things that brings relief.
Heat always provides a sense of comfort and well being and to some degree temporary muscle relaxation. Direct ice application for short repetitive durations provides reduction of inflammation which is actually a productive process.
I also tried to change sleeping position on back only.
Whatever is comfortable.
By the way I am a 34 female and its funny because I used to do yoga a lot and now I am feeling like an old woman sometimes!
There is no correlation. Trauma can be a life-altering experience but, one that can also be surmountable; given appropriate time and proper care.
