Re: inguinal hernia repair- 1 week later

My Dr. went in to repair an inguinal hernia and ended up patch it and another week spot he found.

I had mine done 3 days ago and you will NOT want to drive for at least 3 days... (still counting). The pain isn't horrible now, the first couple of days were the worst. But I couldn't imagine having to hit the brakes quickly if an animal or child got out in front of the car.

I've reduced my pain meds today, and it's bearable, but the constipation is bad. It's just now starting to get uncomfortable. I took ex-lax about 3 hours ago, and it still hasn't helped, just made my stomach start to go into choir mode and occasional bloating pain.

Talk to your doctor about taking stool softeners right away to help relieve the constipation, and make sure you get your pain meds before you get home or you will be really uncomfortable, and probably won't get any sleep.

The swelling for me is still there. I am bruised along the entire incision area, into the scrotum and the base of the penis. Generally sore in the entire groin area.
