Re: Thanks Lori! how supportive!
Lori, this is so good to read your response!
I really think this is the way to go, with individuals figuring it out for themselves[morality, etc].
In getting this great feeling of coming together and agreeing on this with you Lori, I am reminded that "grouping up" is the root of the problem.
I better avoid the urge to say "lets create a document to tell the world our great idea", which would then become the focus to defeat the idea by the opposing dogmaticsisers.[word?]
quoting you :
"I hope that people will see the compassion of helping others out and not care so much about the details of religious following, etc. It's harder to annilihate your neighbor when their kids are playing in your backyard, so to speak"
Ya!! Religiosis do tend to put all their energy into being good followers, "dedication to the way". i really am bugged by that stifling of thought. We should be using education to allow people to develop thier own moral ways instead of letting an old book tell us what is good an bad.
Children know good from bad by age two I bet. in any case, children are where it starts. i am not suggesting we brainwash kids at an early age, I am suggesting WE STOP DOING THAT.
Thats all it might need to take hold [our idea], just stop ruining kids morality with dogma!!
Directing morality by authority figures, social engineering is still being practised, heavy doses of manipulation and brainwashing by Television ads to make us good little consumers...
on and on it goes, with the churhces and religions playing a large role in keeping humanity and morality from evolving. Maybe they know how evil they are and the know they will be left behind if anyone moves ahead...

PS - feeling your support has made me want to go find someone who I can encourage now too. if you had been negative, that would take over. This is a good lesson for me, as I have been negative lately due to various squabbles here at CZ and at home too.
