It’s always interesting to connect the number of a year with a tarot card. This year’s number is EIGHT (2006 adds up to 8) and that represents the Voyager BALANCE card. It’s a year for balancing, or perhaps for RE-BALANCING. (see December’s Connection about the RE-Generator card

Spent some time with Ruth Platner
an art teacher and retired director
of the Oceanshide Museum School of Art.
She makes some wonderful art projects
with kids, including dolls that look like Kachina’s.
they are made from plastic bottles covered with aluminnum
and have feathers and beads. She used the Aol throwaway
disks that we get in the mail for wings.
I showed her my notebook of photos.
Spending time with her reminded me of a focus

I am feeling better today physically
that I was a year ago.
This time last year
I thought I was a couple steps from
kicking the bucket.
I used up about one Rainforest of toilet paper.
I was on the thrown in the bathroom
more than off it seemed.
Nothing would digest.
I was having ongoing pain.
My M.D. wanted to stick something up
my butt after giving me some pain numbing drugs.
I decided to take a hiatus from him.
It all started with some shocks both emotionally
and physically. My kidneys were achey too.
A year later, I am able to digest a lot more foods.
I am not having pain in my gut.

I just got a call from my friend Deborah, a marketing
maven, who is feeling a calling to move out of the city.
I can relate. Last night, I helped a new housemate make
her transition into the house. I had never met her before.
She was moving down from Berkeley. I found myself fretting
