Re: Gallstones and my Duct
by iSeen 14 y
Everyone thank you for your replies and mails, I have recently been diagnosed with Acid Reflux or G.E.R.D.S(if Im not mistaken)
It seems that right now the gallstone is currently not affecting anything in my digestive system, after a gastroscopy it was found that my bile had a tendency to move back up the oasphagus(?) thus causing awefully painful aches in the area below my chest.
As for Modern medicine, they still recommend to remove the whole gallbladder (Advice from 4/5 of doctors I consulted) however only one of them told me to go do a gastroscopy before removing the gallbladder ...

Does Marijuana Cause Gallstones?

Hey everybody,
Got a question. Do you think Marijuana causes gallstones?
I smoked pot HEAVILY for about 3 years before my problems began to surface in July 2010. I smoked about 10-15 times a day or about 60 bucks every three days. This stuff was the stickiest of the icky too. I also drank somewhat heavily every other night, had a horrid diet, was under a lot of stress from college, had an absolutely crazy sleep/wake cyle, and drank 1/3 of a bottle of NyQuil at night to get to sleep. So obviously I wasn’t mister healthy which makes it sort of hard to pinpoint if marijuana caused ...

I know this may sound a little strange, but I was wondering if anyone else had any experience with this.
I have done 7 flushes so far.
Flushes 1-5 went great.
Then on flushes 6-7 I decided to smoke marijuana the night of the flush. I figured it would relax me and might improve the flushes. Wrong.
Both flushes 6 and 7 were terrible. I only got about 5-10 stones out on flush number 6 and on flush 7 there were no stones...just a bunch of slug.
Before that I had been getting about 30-70 stones out on each flush.
I did everything the same and am convinced the Marijuana someh ...

Well, I quite since July 2, 2003, and had a manic/delusional episode anyway, Dec. 17th (that week). So, I know it was not a ”marijuana psychosis”. I also know that the marijuana did not ”trigger” this. I didn’t before, because I had smoked it.
According to Health Canada, chronic user’s of marijuana see a 6% trigger or experience of schizoaffective disorder. I am suspect of government numbers of course, but this is something to look at. A laboratory doing research is also finding a connection of some sort in this regard, but is still trying to determine which came first, etc.

Re: Size of the gallstone VS. size of the bile duct
by Telman 16 y
The average bile duct is about 6mm measured at rest, that is without the gallbladder being contracted. Because the common bile is sealed at one end by a circular muscle when the gallbladder contracts the diameter of the bile duct expands a little. The circular muscle called the sphincter of oddi relaxes and tightens allowing the bile to spurt into the duodenum. When you take a strong solution of Epsom salts it relaxes this muscle allowing he passage of particles including calcified gallstones.
People with gallstones often (but not always) a larger than normal bile duct diameter usually ...

There isn’t a great choice when you have gallstones; either have surgery or try to expel it by liver-flushing. You must take the Epsom salts for gallstone removal and follow a protocol like Hulda Clarke. It does take some time and a great deal of dedication. The Chinese hospital use a similar protocol combined with drugs you may like to read about it here:

There were plenty of gallstones in the picture of the digestive system on the wall at the doctor’s offices - it showed a gallbladder almost totally filled with gallstones.

Re: Cause of Liver and Gall stones
by Telman 14 y
Gallstones are usually a sign of something else.
There are two main types of gallstones:
1. Cholesterol gallstones caused by high concentration of cholesterol in the bile, low bile salts or sluggish gallbladder that doesn’t contract properly.
2. Pigment gallstones usually cause by a single event such as illness, infection etc.
Both types of gallstones can become covered in calcium and in some cases calcium gallstones form around crystals in the bile.
There are other ways of categorising stones.

Many people live quite comfortably with these types of gallstones without any symptoms at all. Unless you specific medical evidence of a gallstone stuck in the neck of the gallbladder or white stool etc, then what makes you different from another person who has the same symptoms but no gallstones? It may not be the gallstone causing the problem.

Hi
Gallstones are hard, pebble-like deposits that form inside the gallbladder. Gallstones may be as small as a grain of sand or as large as a golf ball.
The cause of gallstones varies. There are two main types of gallstones:
* Stones made out of cholesterol. Gallstones made out of cholesterol are by far the most common type. Cholesterol gallstones have nothing to do with the cholesterol levels in the blood.
* Stones made from too much bilirubin in the bile. Bile is a liquid made in the liver that helps the body digest fats. Bile is made up of water, cholesterol, bile salts, and o ...

Ultrasound examination vary a great deal depending upon the equipment used and the skill of the examiner. If the machine was the normal type the sensor will have been used on the outside of your abdomen. There are also ultra sound sensors that can examine the gallbladder from the stomach wall; ie, inside.
In general terms ultra sound is good enough to detect all gallstones that reflect sound including cholesterol gallstones. In addition it can detect biliary sludge and also measure the diameter of the common bile duct which is an indicator of gallstone activity. However, the definition ...

Excellent, thank you for the post.
I came across this: How are gallstones diagnosed?
Many gallstones, especially silent stones, are discovered by accident during tests for other problems. But when gallstones are suspected to be the cause of symptoms, the doctor is likely to do an ultrasound exam. Ultrasound uses sound waves to create images of organs. Sound waves are sent toward the gallbladder through a handheld device that a technician glides over the abdomen. The sound waves bounce off the gallbladder, liver, and other organs such as a pregnant uterus, and their echoes make electr ...

The gallstones that you saw originally on the ultrasound were together in a bunch and appeared as one. Now that you have made room in the gallbladder by expelling soft cholesterol gallstones there is room for the echo visible gallstones to move about, they have split up and can been seen individually. Soft cholesterol gallstones do not appear on the ultrasound.
These echo visible stones commonly form in the deepest part of the gallbladder. There are the deposits of a gland that secretes chemicals into the bile but when the gallbladder is congested the chemicals hardened into calcified g ...

There appears a great variety of stones that can form in the biliary system but they are put into a few groups. There appears to me to be two types of calcified gallstones. One is almost solid calcium with a bacterial centre and often has the appearance of the Mercedes Benz sign:
The second type is formed by the gradual encrustation of a cholesterol stone and can have a soft centre that may melt (or not). The encrustation is cause by the calcium bicarbonate present in liver bile precipitating on a cholesterol gallstone. This most likely occurs where the liver bile enters the ga ...

The green stones that you expel during a liver-flush are are a product of cleaning the biliary system but they are not necessarily the gallstones that have been diagnosed. However, among the stones may be some of your diagnosed gallstones. Common gallstones are caused by three basic factors, high cholesterol, low bile salts or slow emptying. Once they are formed they tend to change the chemistry of the bile even further and bile tends to clump together causing soft gallstones and sludge, invisible to ultra-sound that co-exist with the other stones.
There is a balance when liver-flushing ...

There is fog surrounding the theory of gallstones, their formation and dissolution.
Commonly in the 3 term of pregnancy from 28 weeks on-wards there is a tendency for the gallbladder not to empty properly and this can cause soft gallstones to form that block the flow of bile between the gallbladder and duodenum. This has the potential to cause birth anomalies and still birth so it was important to come up with a solution to this problem. The other important factor is that normally after the birth gallbladder function returns to normal eventually consequently surgery is pointless. Ursode ...

The reasons don’t have to be connected to a poor lifestyle; an illness, the female contraception pill or even dieting can be all it takes to stall the normal biliary cycle. Even people with a normal biliary chemistry have the potential to form gallstones if the gallbladder doesn’t fill and empty correctly. The formation of gallstones could even be a secondary reaction to some inflammation in the liver cause some time ago by an infection or bio-organism.

I am not sure I’d be convinced it was the marijuana. It could be that you have gotten most of the stones out.
I use medical marijuana and used some the night of my first flush and will be using it during my next flush as well - it really helped me go to sleep (I have very bad insomnia). I have posted before that I wasn’t sure my flush worked as I didn’t really see stones but I think part of that was because I have been using supplements that may have helped ”dissolve” the stones. Also I will be a little more thorough in my prep next time.
