This was really helpful. Thank you. My ex husbands lawyer encourages the alienating behaviors and tactics, and he eats it up, he was good before but this attorney has websites written about him and his encouragement of ’destroy your ex’s relationship with the kids’. I’m not proud to say I have not been as close lipped as I should have been (because I get accused of keeping info from him, even when he’s asking about things not related to the kids) and shot myself in the foot or basically handed him the gun to do it to me. And, if you don’t see your child, because of some complication, arrange to be nearby, regularly...for however long it takes. ...NOT as a big dramatic gesture...but as a steady and trustworthy friend. Oh boy! I can certainly see why some factions don’t want to recognize this as a real problem...there are far too many if’s, and’s, and but’s to it. For just one example, the core source of the attitude may be a relative...not the opposing spouse at all. And the attitude may have come from that spouse’s childhood, long before you two were married. Combine that with any complications that you carry, and no one can be healthy or happy. I have some suggestions, but not real answers. Giving Love to your children seems like a good idea.  There may be some other steps: If you suspect that your Ex is using infromation about you, against you, then one strategy could be to minimize the information that you share with her. There are at least two modes of deliberate alienation.  One mode is opportunistic, but not real deliberate and dedicated.    The other Alientation mode is deliberately going out of her way to find information about you, and go out of her way to concoct confabulations ...

I agree with both of you. When my ex and I seperated, I had a wonderful relationship with my children. It took less than 2 months before I noticed a difference in blame and attitude. Now almost three years later my daughter will not speak to me and my son is being kept from me. I have requested the courts to step in but, they move slow. I even called the Dept. of Family and protective services for guidence. If there are not any physical wounds, there is no abuse. From their stand point.
