The day the pain was getting stronger and stronger I had to know what was going on. I studied online and came up with an acute pilonidal abcess. I am 2 months shy of being 21. I have had reoccurring pilonidal cysts since I was 11 years old. yes i will have an appointment with a doctor, i didnt get to bed until very late last night worrying about this, i am almost definite that this is what i have and i have been researching it for a few hours, it seems that without surgery there is little chance of it healing, or if it does it is very likely to recurr after watching videos and seeing images of the surgery and the healing process, i must say i am horrified there seems to always be a huge gaping hole after they cut out the cyst, this hole is an open wound you can often even see the tailbone through it, in alot of the cases ...

ok thank you for replying to this, i looked pilondial cys on google, and it really does sound like what i have, the causes of this however seem uncertain, one possible explanation was a hair follicle that entered the skin and caused the cyst, could it possible that a parasite for instance some kinda of worm could have caused this? if i am not mistaken, there feels like a semi hardish long thing under my skin   [End]

It sounds like you have a pilonidal cyst on your tailbone. You need to have it checked by a physician. If it is one, it is creating an opening where you are having chronic infection/inflamation that needs to be eliminated. If it is a cyst, it will need to be surgically treated to remove the affected tissue and to close the area to allow healing. Please get checked ASAP.   [End]

Recently I have acquired a pilonidal cyst. They are kind of like a boil only they won’t go away.
