I agree with Naturalist here.
What could be mistaken for hunger is just that "empty" and gnawing feeling in the abdominal area.
Itching can be caused by mild perspiration and the elimination of toxins through the skin (an organ of elimination).
It is also not uncommon to be preoccupied with the thoughts of food either!!!!
One quart of pure water a day is good advice although in my own case I was advised to drink according to thirst and this worked well for me.
