Re: Andy 2 - how much grass are you growing?

hi,

okay sounds like you got the basics down. i am worried about using the caf trays because they have no drainage and that is important. i think a mini greenhouse is a great idea and have thought about doing that myself. if you do, definitely get some trays with drainage, as the water trapped inside will start to mold and then you are cooked. let me know if you do the mini greenhouse thing.

when you say you are having trouble with the humidity, what do you mean? are you saying the soil is drying out? or the grass is drying out?

as far as the grass falling, i think that has more to do with the shallow root system than anything else. roots are the foundation of the plant and whne grown in shallow trays the roots only reach down so far. its like a 6' man trying to stand with feet the size of a two year old. it just doesn't work. the deeper the tray the better the grass will stand up. although removing the ballast is a great idea, let me know if you see any improvement from that.
