Re: what do you think?

Hi friend! I was on Mirena for three months. I have had it removed for over three weeks. I had an attack while on Mirena that consisted of tingling hands and legs that turned numb, heart racing/palpitations, chest pressure, and extreme anxiety since I was convinced I was having a heart attack. I went to the ER and the docs said I was having an anxiety attack. The ER doc put me on a tranquilizer what a joke. I have never had any problems that way ever! I had consumed caffeine prior to this incident and I belive the caffeine interacted with the hormone in my bloodstream from Mirena. These symptoms occurred(without caffeine) on other occasions as well. I would wake from sound sleeps with pounding heart, it felt like it was trying to come out my chest. I had the tingling and numbing of my hands and legs on several occasions. I had severe dizziness and an "uneven" feeling and once I even collapsed from this. I was terrified to hold my twin babies for fear I would drop them from the dizziness. I stopped driving because I had fear I would pass out at the wheel or have an attack like the one I mentioned before. Since removal I have had no more episodes and almost all my symptoms are completely gone. I also doubted if it was from Mirena until I came to this site and felt my instincts validated for the first time. The OBGYN community seems to be in denial about the hormone in Mirena distributing itself beyond the cervix. Mirena acknowledges in its literature that a % of the hormone is released into the bloodstream. I believe the % is higher then they say for some of us anyway. Mirena is a progesterone only BC while BC pills have something completely different in them. Mirena's progesterone is similar to the one found in the depo provera shot. The same depo shot can cause women to have some of the very same side effects as Mirena users. I truly believe your side effects are Mirena based. This is a website you can go to that shows some of the side effects Mirena's own literature lists on the Drs prescribing info.

I hope this info helps you out friend. Whatever you may decide to do, you will find support on this site! Please post back and let us know how everything turns out for you! Take care friend:):):)!
