In 1971 Southwest Airlines was launched as the "Love Airlines" and it's number one attraction was sexy hostesses dressed in bright orange hot pants. Most observers credit that maneuver with generating the attention Southwest needed for a successful launch and the momentum it turned into it's subsequent unequaled record of success.
How sexy? Sexy enough that some of us young hormones-raging teens would take trips to Dallas Love Field airport just to see and stew over the Southwest Airlines stewardesses. Though fairly tame by today's standards, they were risque' enough at the time to have created quite the stir, including some howls of indignation from the moral guardians crowd.
